Katrin's Chronicles: The Canon of Jacquelene Dyanne, Vol. 1
Katrin's Chronicles: The Canon of Jacquel ne Dyanne, expands the girl detective genre to include these smart, sister sleuths from the south side of Chicago. On the verge of entering high school, precociously eloquent 13-year-old Katrin DuBois feels it's never too soon to start an autobiography. She decides to set the record straight about the outrageous rumors concerning certain adventures that began when she was in sixth grade. That's when her elder sister, 8th grader J. Dyanne, began exhibiting extraordinary detecting powers. Set during the latter half of the historically turbulent year of 1968, these African-American tweens live in a working class neighborhood on Chicago's South Side. They manage to thrive in a world of social change with multi-generational family support, creative quick-thinking and fearless inquisitiveness. The dog days of August 1968 find them prohibited by their parents from visiting the Central Library downtown because of the riots during the Democratic Convention. However, there's plenty of adventure in their own neighborhood as they become swept up in family mysteries, neighborhood political schemes and the discovery of a surprising legacy of psychic, even supernatural, talent.

Leading from the Emerging Future; From Ego-System to Eco-System Economies
Our Time Is Now We have entered an age of disruption. Financial collapse, climate change, resource depletion, and a growing gap between rich and poor are but a few of the signs. Otto Scharmer and Katrin Kaufer ask, why do we collectively create results nobody wants? Meeting the challenges of this century requires updating our economic logic and operating system from an obsolete "ego-system" focused entirely on the well-being of oneself to an eco-system awareness that emphasizes the well-being of the whole. Filled with real-world examples, this thought-provoking guide presents proven practices for building a new economy that is more resilient, intentional, inclusive, and aware.

The Sociology of Everyday Life Peacebuilding

This book uses in-depth interview data with victims of conflict in Northern Ireland, South Africa and Sri Lanka to offer a new, sociological conceptualization of everyday life peacebuilding. It argues that sociological ideas about the nature of everyday life complement and supplement the concept of everyday life peacebuilding recently theorized within International Relations Studies (IRS). It claims that IRS misunderstands the nature of everyday life by seeing it only as a particular space where mundane, routine and ordinary peacebuilding activities are accomplished. Sociology sees everyday life also as a mode of reasoning. By exploring victims’ ways of thinking and understanding, this book argues that we can better locate their accomplishment of peacebuilding as an ordinary activity. The book is based on six years of empirical research in three different conflict zones and reports on a wealth of interview data to support its theoretical arguments. This data serves to give voice to victims who are otherwise neglected and marginalized in peace processes.

While Europe and the world are entangled in their own contradictions in celebrating economic growth and technical progress as the salvation horizon of humanity, Filip Markiewicz proposes to dive into a universe of signs and images that reflect the emptiness of our current discourses. He imagines his exhibitions as stages on which individuals are invited to watch the decline of their own civilisation. The myth of the automobile ends in desolate cemeteries of rusted engines and useless tires; giant bank notes stand for the deceptive show of perverted politics and media (self-)representation. As the artist stated in his theatre performance Fake Fiction (Theater Basel, 2017): “Today, we have all somehow turned into Bela Lugosi. The dance of the vampires of the European image can begin. It’s time to put on the masks and drink the digital blood until our hard drive is formatted for eternity.”

I chose the title Mama Don't Shuck Peas like She Used To because the Holy Spirit gave me this title and also allowed me to know the meaning behind it. There is so much going on in the world today. So many young women are lost. They have no true guidance. Older women encouraging, inspiring, and redirecting the younger women is not so popular these days. Shucking the peas always gave opportunity for the older of two women to impart wisdom to the younger of the two. Mama Don't Shuck Peas like She Used To is a real eye-opener, showing what is obvious among us in the world today but is greatly overlooked. The aged women likewise, that they be in behavior as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.
