The Archetypal Cosmos

The Archetypal Cosmos

Keiron Le Grice

The modern world is passing through a time of critical change on many levels: cultural, political, ecological and spiritual. We are witnessing the decline and dissolution of the old order, the tumult and uncertainty of a new birth. Against this background, there is an urgent need for a coherent framework of meaning to lead us beyond the growing fragmentation of culture, belief and personal identity.Keiron Le Grice argues that the developing insights of a new cosmology could provide this framework, helping us to discover an underlying order shaping our life experiences. In a compelling synthesis of the ideas of seminal thinkers from depth psychology and the new paradigm sciences, Le Grice positions the new discipline of archetypal astrology at the centre of an emerging world view that reunifies psyche and cosmos, spirituality and science, mythology and metaphysics, and enables us to see mythic gods, heroes and themes in a fresh light. He draws especially on the work of C. G. Jung, Joseph Campbell, Richard Tarnas, Fritjof Capra, David Bohm and Brian Swimme.Heralding a 'rediscovery of the gods' and the passage into a new spiritual era, The Archetypal Cosmos presents a new understanding of the role of myth and archetypal principles in our lives, one that could give a cosmic perspective and deeper meaning to our personal experiences.
Discovering Eris

Discovering Eris

In astrology, each planet in our solar system is symbolically associated with specific archetypes, characteristics, themes and patterns in human experience. The discovery in 2005 of Eris -- a dwarf planet beyond Pluto -- was therefore an event of great significance for astrology as well as astronomy. In this unique book, Keiron Le Grice considers the astrological significance of Eris. How, he asks, can we determine Eris's meaning? What archetypal themes is it associated with? In what ways might the myths of Eris, the Greek goddess of strife, be relevant to the astrological meaning? What can Eris's discovery tell us about the evolutionary challenges we now face? Drawing on a wide variety of perspectives -- including mythology, ecology, religion, history, philosophy and Jungian psychology -- Le Grice carefully constructs a multi-faceted picture of Eris's possible meaning, helping to illuminate the unprecedented events of our time and providing clues to our possible future directions.

The market town of Barnsley in South Yorkshire has a long, proud history rooted in its industrial past. First mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086 (‘Berneslai’), it is home to the late twelfth-century Monk Bretton Priory, which was founded on the edge of the town and can still be seen today, as can the thirteenth-century St Helena’s Well nearby. Barnsley Grammar School was founded in the eighteenth century, and its buildings still stand, but the major growth in the town occurred during the Industrial Revolution, particularly through coal mining and glass production. The National Union of Mining Headquarters are situated on the edge of the town centre and Elsecar Heritage Centre includes the Newcomen beam engine. Barnsley’s civic pride is demonstrated in its imposing Town Hall, which opened in 1933, although the expenditure on it was criticised by George Orwell. Recent years have seen significant developments in Barnsley with much of the town centre being rebuilt, including the Glass Works shopping centre, the Library @ the Lightbox, creative arts hub and theatre the Civic, two new town centre colleges and the Digital Media Centre. Barnsley in 50 Buildings explores the history of this fascinating town through a selection of its most interesting buildings and structures, showing the changes that have taken place over the years. The book will appeal to all those who live in Barnsley or have an interest in the town.

The South Yorkshire town of Barnsley grew through its industries of linen weaving, glass-making and coal mining from a settlement around Monk Bretton Priory. Communities grew up around these industries, bringing wealth to the town, but today many of these industries are just a memory and not only has the fabric of the town changed in the last hundred years but also a way of life has disappeared. New modes of transport such as canals, trams and railways have come and gone, shops have opened and closed, places of worship and entertainment, not least music venues, theatres and cinemas, have disappeared and a major redevelopment of the town centre has seen many old buildings swept away. Lost Barnsley presents a portrait of this corner of South Yorkshire over the last century to recent decades, showing not only industries and buildings that have gone but also people and street scenes, many popular places of entertainment and much more. This fascinating photographic history of lost Barnsley will appeal to all those who live in the area or know it well, as well as those who remember it from previous decades.

In this compelling psychological memoir, Keiron Le Grice, the 2023 Zurich Lecture Series' speaker, details his experience of a profound transformative crisis between 2001 and 2004. He explains how, by a sustained investigation of the root causes of his condition, he was eventually able to overcome the crisis, guided by instructive dreams and startling coincidences, illuminated by a series of symbolic paintings, and aided by his serendipitous discovery of the Gnostic text The Gospel of Thomas. Exploring the nature of the unconscious mind and the mysterious spiritual power behind his experience, Le Grice turns to the mystical symbolism of alchemy and the psychology of Carl Gustav Jung to set out a deep understanding of psychological rebirth and its relationship to the ongoing evolution of the Western psyche. The Lion Will Become Man gives a striking example of alchemy at work and reveals its great value as a guide to the complex developmental process that Jung called individuation.Table of ContentsPreface Introduction Chapter I: Sublimatio and Devil Possession Chapter II: The Descent of the Western Ego Chapter III: Dread, the Nigredo, and the Opposites Chapter IV: Mortificatio and Ego-Death Chapter V: Solutio and the Prima Materia Chapter VI: Calcinatio and Dionysian Dismemberment Chapter VII: The Lion, the Child, and the Transformations of Mercurius Chapter VIII: The Cauda Pavonis Chapter IX: God, Sophia, and the Dark Spirit in Nature Chapter X: Coniunctio in California Chapter XI: The Unio Mystica and the Transformation of the World Afterword Appendix: An Extract from Mircea Eliade's Interview with C.G. The Year 2018 would be the defining year of the life of a man who goes through so many changes in his life to the point where he struggles because of an underlying condition he was diagnosed with since childhood. However, with the help from his family, he goes through new experiences that would test his resilience and adapt to a new routine. The one experience that would define all the changes 2018 are The Winds of Change when it is least expected. It would sum up what he has gone through and where he would be going from that experience onwards. Little would he realise until later on that the changes would be for the better as he would now understand that adapting to new things would be for the best.

Perfect for fans of Stephen King and James Herbert. Described as a supernatural thriller, the book has been greatly received by countless independent readers including editors and sub editors of published works, who very kindly gave me feedback. The consensus is that it is a real page turner, with a great hook and a strong story-line that captivates and enthuses the reader. At its heart, Beyond the Door is about good and evil, love and loss and spiritual awakening. The book opens with a murder: a young woman is brutally killed in her own home after visiting a medium. Her fiancee, Jack Brookes, is left to pick up the broken pieces of his life and to try and understand why she was murdered. In his quest, he learns that the medium his fianc e visited isn't all he appears to be.With the help of a mysterious woman and a true spiritualist, Jack sets off on a journey of discovery through endless twists and turns that eventually sees him face his own demons, mentally and physically.About the AuthorKeiron's was a successful school teacher but two years ago, overnight he became a single parent to three children. The life of a teacher wasn't conducive to this, and as his youngest child was only three years old, he had to leave his career to care for his children. Being a glass half-full type, he took the opportunity to write the book that had always simmered inside him. This is his first novel and he hopes to follow this up with even more ideas under the horror genre.
Archetypal Cosmology and Depth Psychology: Selected Essays
In this selection of seminal essays, drawn together into a single volume, Keiron Le Grice introduces archetypal cosmology, the academic field centered on the practice of archetypal astrology. Exploring its relationship to science and the modern worldview, its basis in the psychology of C. G. Jung, and its development in the twentieth century, Part One tackles the fundamental theoretical and empirical issues raised by astrology. Part Two illustrates how we can use archetypal astrology to better understand ourselves and the place of the unconscious psyche in human experience. Discussing the life and work of Jung, Nietzsche, and others, it shows how archetypal astrology can help to illuminate not only individual lives but also the evolution of religious consciousness and conceptions of the divine.
