These twenty arrangements were carefully written for classical guitar with much consideration given to the original four-part choral arrangements found in several of the well known hymn books. Some of these arrangements were based on personal tastes and compositional ideas. As the arrangements in Book 1 would challenge many of the seasoned players, a second book of the same hymns is arranged at a more moderate level for the students of guitar. Book 3 follows in line with twenty duets for voice and guitar.

Hymns, including Greek and Latin, the psalter or book of psalms, ancient chant, early canticles, spirituals, and contemporary gospel, have created a hymnody, which over many centuries has become the most profound vehicle for praise and worship in the Christian Church. It has once been said that the Church, "Has come singing down through the ages". Through this beautiful medium of song, worshippers over many generations have privately and collectively aspired to give praise and proclaim their faith while expressing the higher emotions of the soul. This work provides details and analysis of the intelligence failures and successes of the Cuban Missile Crisis, and suggests some lessons learned for the collection, analysis, and use of intelligence in strategic decision making. It tells how the crisis unfolded using the author's personal recollection, declassified documents, and many memoirs written by senior CIA officers and other participants. Lessons learned include the need to avoid having our political, analytical and intelligence collection mind-sets prevent us from acquiring and accurately analyzing information about our adversary's plans and intentions. When our national security is at stake, we should not hesitate to undertake risky intelligence collection operations including espionage, to penetrate our adversary's deceptions. We must also understand that our adversaries may not believe the gravity of our policy warnings or allow their own agendas to be influenced by diplomatic pressure. In dialogue with afro-caribbean philosophy, this book seeks in Cassirer's philosophy of symbolic forms a new vocabulary for approaching central intellectual and political issues of our time. For Cassirer, what makes humans unique is that we are symbolizing creatures destined to come into a world through varied symbolic forms; we pluralistically work with and develop these forms as we struggle to come to terms with who we are and our place in the universe. This approach can be used as a powerful challenge to hegemonic modes of study that mistakenly place the Western world at the center of intellectual and political life. Indeed, the authors argue that the symbolic dimension of Cassirer's thinking of possibility can be linked to a symbolic dimension in revolution via the ideas of Frantz Fanon, who argued that revolution must be a thoroughgoing cultural process, in which what is at stake is nothing less than how we symbolize a new humanity and bring into being a new set of social institutions worthy of that new humanity.
