The environmental field and its regulations have evolved significantly since Congress passed the first environmental law in 1970, and the Environmental Law Handbook, published just three years later, has been indispensable to students and professionals ever since. The authors provide clear and accessible explanations, expert legal insight into new and evolving regulations, and reliable compliance and management guidance. The Environmental Law Handbook continues to provide individuals across the country—professionals, professors, and students—with a comprehensive, up-to-date, and easy-to-read look at the major environmental, health, and safety laws affecting U.S. businesses and organizations. Because it is written by the country's leading environmental law firms, it provides the best, most reliable guidance anywhere. Both professional environmental managers and students aspiring to careers in environmental management should keep the Environmental Law Handbook within arm's reach for thoughtful answers to regulatory questions like: ·How do I ensure compliance with the regulations? ·How do the latest environmental developments impact my operations? ·How do we keep our operations efficient and our community safe? The Handbook begins with chapters on the fundamentals of environmental law and on issues of enforcement and liability. It then dives headfirst into the major laws, examining their history, scope, and requirements with a chapter devoted to each. The 24th edition of this well-known Handbook has been thoroughly updated, covering major changes to the law and enforcement in the areas of Clean Air, Clean Water, Climate Change, Oil Pollution, and Pollution Prevention. This is an essential reference for environmental students and professionals, and anyone who wants the most up-to-date information available on environmental laws.
Our Journey with Cancer: A Story about Faith, Hope & Love
This book brings the reader on our journey with nasopharyngeal cancer, a rare type of head and neck cancer. It is a collection of my reflections especially during my medical treatment stage in 2017, and ends with the post-treatment 'clearance' stage which will take the next 4-5 years (2018-2022/23) that are the crucial monitoring time period like most forms of cancer. The intention of the book is to highlight awareness to the readers concerning the challenges that both patient and (especially) primary caregiver experience before/during and after. It is hoped that the contents shared here will provide the reader (especially if you are a patient and primary caregiver) with the courage and strength to overcome the challenges that lie ahead.

This book takes the reader back in time to the very start of the author's birth, as far as he can remember; and it focuses on his spiritual development since then, at least until the present day. Many challenges unfolded before the author as he grew up, and faced with the uncertainty of life he began exploring various approaches to life as far as religion is concerned, mainly Christianity and Buddhism. Being born into a Taoist family, he followed the family in practising ancestral worship; but surrounded with questions consistently, he started searching for the meaning of life through various means and finally settled for what he feels is the right path for him to follow henceforth. Embark on a spiritual quest with the author as he brings you along with him on a journey spanning over 40-plus years of spiritual exploration (which is still work in progress by the way), and hopefully have your own questions (if any) concerning your own faith answered along the way.

This book is the results of my wife's and my attempts to share with you the reader, regardless of your statuses as far as relationships are concerned, tips that we have learnt over our limited number of years of marriage to each other (nine and counting, since 2009) and how the tips have helped us grow closer to each other in our matrimonial journey. It is not the 'bible' of marriage counselling books, but just one of many collections of suggestions and proposals that have worked for us one way or another; and it is our deepest hope that they will likewise help you to deepen your spousal relationship with your loved ones as you journey together though the many challenging obstacles that will crop up along the way. May God bless both of you always with a blissful marriage, and may He also grant you the wisdom to always love your spouse the way He loves you
Constitutional Law for a Changing America: A Short Course

Constitutional Law for a Changing America: A Short Course

Excellent balance of case excerpts and author explanation, highly appropriate for undergraduate students. --Dr. Wendy Brame, Briar Cliff University Political factors influence judicial decisions. Arguments and input from lawyers and interest groups, the ebb and flow of public opinion, and especially the ideological and behavioral inclinations of the justices all combine to shape the development of constitutional doctrine. Drawing from political science as much as from legal studies, Constitutional Law for a Changing America: A Short Course helps students realize that Supreme Court cases are more than just legal names and citations. With meticulous revising, the authors streamline material while accounting for recent landmark cases and new scholarship. Ideal for a one semester course, the Ninth Edition of A Short Course offers all the hallmarks of the Rights and Powers volumes (also included in the Constitutional Law for a Changing America series) in a more condensed format. Champions have an inept ability to be victorious in the face of attempted defeat on many levels on difficulty. The essence of perseverance can be found in the application of learned lessons. Life decisions come with positive and negative repercussions. Over my life, I have made choices that provided me with a one way path to prison. While incarcerated, I made more bad decisions that extended that portion of my life. Not until I made up my mind to do better, did I realize that I could do more help than hurt to myself and others around me. Prison changed me life. This book outlines how I persevered with the heart of a champion.Kelvin A. Lee is an Entrepreneur, Certified Drug Counselor, ReEntry Expert, and Real Estate Investor are words that describe who Kelvin Lee is today. A Model Discipline

A Model Discipline

Political science is an intensely quantitative discipline, and models are central. Political scientists use models--formal and informal, statistical and qualitative--to investigate and illuminate causal mechanisms, generate comparative data, and understand the conditions under which certain outcomes are expected to occur. But even though the use of models has grown dramatically in the discipline, there is very little understanding among political scientists of the role or function that models play in the scientific enterprise more generally. Moreover, theoretical models and empirical models have traditionally been treated as separate (hence the division between theorists and empiricists). Today, however, the emphasis is on using models to generate testable predictions that serve as hypotheses for subsequent data analysis. But how do we justify and rationalize the method? Why test predictions from a deductive, and thus truth-preserving, system? David Primo and Kevin Clarke tackle these central questions in this novel work of methodology. They argue that the lack of a suitable justification for model testing is not the only reason to revisit the role of models in political science. Most importantly, they contend that models should be seen as 'objects' and thus neither true nor false. Rather, they should be evaluated in the same fashion as models are evaluated in the physical sciences--good models are useful for particular purposes. Nothing more, nothing less. Divided into two parts, the book first establishes that no social scientific endeavor is philosophy-free. The second part focuses on different types of models, and closes with a framework for integrating theoretical and statistical models.
