This Is Only Earth, My Dear: Images by Trillian Stars and Kyle Cassidy with Poems by Elizabeth Siddal
This exquisite collection features 46 emotive images, each one a visual ode to the forgotten Victorian poet Elizabeth Eleanor Siddal, whose work, unpublished in her lifetime, has never existed in a popular edition. This collaborative masterpiece by actress, playwright, and model Trillian Stars and her husband, award-winning photographer Kyle Cassidy, offers a unique blend of travel, photography and poetry that transports readers to modern London haunted by the ghosts of the past. Captured entirely on a Hasselblad HB4116 over 30 days in England, this hardback 8.5 x 8.5, 78 page book contains 46 full color images, each one a story on its own, deeply inspired by the seven complete Elizabeth Siddal poems also included, evoking a sense of nostalgia and timeless beauty, like the lingering scent of perfume after someone has left the room. Immerse yourself in this unique blend of words, images and history, and let This is Only Earth, My Dear transport you to a world where the past and present coexist in a dance of rhythm, light and shadow.

In 2014, author and photographer Kyle Cassidy published a photo essay on Slate.com called "This is What A Librarian Looks Like," a montage of portraits and a tribute to librarians. Since then, Cassidy has made it his mission to remind us of how essential librarians and libraries are to our communities. His subjects are men and women of all ages, backgrounds, and personal style-from pink hair and leather jackets to button-downs and blazers. In short, notnecessarily what one thinks a librarian looks like. The nearly 220 librarians photographed also share their personal thoughts on what it means to be a librarian. This is What A Librarian Looks Like also includes original essay by some of our most beloved writers, journalists, and commentators including Neil Gaiman, George R.R. Martin, Nancy Pearl, Cory Doctorow, Paula Poundstone, Amanda Palmer, Peter Sagal, Jeff VanderMeer, John Scalzi, Sara Farizan, Amy Dickinson, and others. Cassidy also profiles a handful of especially influential librarians and libraries

The tattoos worn by nearly 100 servicemen and veterans, and personal stories from WWII to more recent wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. For many service men and women, the battle is over, but the ink lives on. Thousands have chosen to commemorate their military service through tattoos, a custom as old as war paint itself. Yet military tattoos go far beyond the usual anchor and eagle clichés, and are often as complex and varied as the military experience. For the first time, documentary photographer Kyle Cassidy has sought out veterans who marked their military service with a tattoo and they are shown here in all their glory: fresh, faded, sometimes intertwined with wounds, physical and otherwise. And the stories behind these tattoos, both conventional and surprising, are just as engaging. In a transient world, with shifting enemies, mores, leaders, and friends, this is a testament to the values of a permanent commemoration. The unique journey into each service man and woman’s story will captivate you. Not only is this book a great resource for history and military buffs, but it is also a great reference for tattoo artists.

Kyle, Texas, was founded in 1880 when settlers from the nearby established communities of Blanco and Mountain City purchased lots in the 200-acre township deeded to the International-Great Northern Railroad by David E. Moore and Fergus Kyle, who gave his name to the new city. Beneath a live oak tree, which still stands, lots for both businesses and residences that had been laid out by surveyor Martin Groos were sold at auction in October 1880. Within two years, the town had 500 residents, although it would not be incorporated until 1928. Around the time Kyle was founded, Col. R.J. Sledge brought German workers to his Pecan Springs Valley plantation east of Kyle, generating new customers for his mercantile store in town. Kyle has been the home of some famous people, including author Katherine Anne Porter, Boston Red Sox pitcher Tex Hughson, Rhodes Scholar Terrell Sledge, and Dean Edwin J. Kyle, namesake of Kyle Field at Texas A&M University.

Finally, the first volume of Kyle's Bed & Breakfast is available in print again, thanks to Sugar Maple Press. For those unfamiliar with the addictively fun-filled series, Kyle's B&B is a syndicated comic strip focused on the lives of a group of quirky, (and often hunky ), gay men living in a harbor town B&B in the northeastern USA. Closeted minor-league baseball player Brad, corporate shark Lance, gossip-loving fashionista Richard, troubled high-school senior Eduardo, and Kyle, the 30-something inn-keeper with a heart of gold who keeps all of these hot-shots in line. Romance... drama... topical issues... laugh-out-loud humor... sexiness...hot apple pie and some hot guys raiding the fridge in their briefs... this comic strip covers all the bases And underlying it all is a warm message of hope. Included in this volume are the first 5 years of the comic strip, along with a previously-unpublished 2 episode story, and a detailed floor-by-floor "blueprint" layout of the B&B. When this book was originally published in 2004, it went on to become a Lambda Literary Award Finalist for "Best Humor Book" of the year. This new Sugar Maple Press edition features sharply improved graphics; the comic strip images are larger, with crisper & clearer delineation. Also restored are the individual episode numbers, something curiously lacking in the original edition. These days, Kyle's Bed & Breakfast has a vastly larger, worldwide readership, with an enormous online presence. The strip also went full-color a few years ago, unlike the early black & white episodes featured in this volume, (and those in the follow-up volume, "Kyle's Bed & Breakfast: A Second Bowl of Serial", also available from Sugar Maple Press). What fun it is to travel back and see how it all began, before the strip was in color, before the characters all knew each other. This is one B&B vacation you do NOT want to miss
