Lena Attling var främst en kreativ person. Men hos henne fanns också ett mörker och en depression som återkom med jämna mellanrum. År 2021 kom hennes självbiografiska bok ”Långsamt träder du fram ur skuggorna” som hon skrev tillsammans med Elsie Petrén. Där berättar hon om sitt liv, om de mörka sidorna som förföljde henne sedan barndomen, om självmordsförsöket som innebar att hon blev rullstolsburen. Om hennes ende son Daniel som tog livet av sig. Men hon kom tillbaka, tog fram de ljusa sidorna i livet, målade och skapade. Det kändes som om boken satte en punkt, nu skulle hon orka leva vidare. Hon gjorde också en bilderbok med målningar från barndom till nutid. Den godkände hon för utgivning hösten 2022, men strax därefter tog hon sitt liv. Här är bilderna om hennes liv. Under 1980-talet väcktes mitt intresse för gamla bilder i Kolsätt, byn där jag föddes under andra världskriget. Gick runt i gårdarna och fick se många bilder från svunna tider. Byborna berättade om saker som hänt i byn, som var helt nytt för mig. Om färjans betydelse, fabriken, båten Prins Bernadotte och mycket mer. Elsa Lena Ryding, författaren till denna bok, är kvinnoläkare. Hon har levt en del av sitt liv i det innersta av ett sjukhus, där få har tillträde: intensivvården,operationsavdelningarna och förlossningsavdelningen. För dem som arbetar där behövs det en anpassning till en värld av död och sorg och samtidigt nytt liv. Det är en sciencefictionvärld, där vårt samhälles etik ibland kan tyckas ha upphört att vara giltig. Diktsamlingen är fragment från denna värld.
