No conoc an el amor, nadie se los hab a ense ado. Ella era el remplazo de su hermana y l deb a cumplir con su deber. Alan no ped a sumisi n, reclamaba fidelidad. No promet a amor, ofrec a respeto. Psychological Borders in Europe and the United States: Contemporary Nationalism, Nativism, and Populism presents an integrative sociopolitical and psychological analysis model to examine contemporary sociopolitical rising ideologies in Europe and the United States; specifically, nationalism, nativism, and populism. Further, this book explores processes involved in the construction and sociopolitical mobilization of large, group identities. Political psychology is introduced to discuss the formation of national and psychological borders and their manifestations, including dynamics of identity driven aggression. The connection between the rise of ideologies, such as nativism and populism, and historical collective traumas is discussed, highlighting the role of social re-enactments, identity transformation, and large collective mourning to contemporary sociopolitical dynamics in Europe and the United States. Ethnic, racial, and intergroup conflict, and the role of immigration and asylum policy in maintaining, changing, and transforming existing collective identities is discussed, to then examine the war between Russia and the Ukraine. This book includes specific case applications to European countries and the United States, where nationalism, nativism, and populism have been on the ascendant.
Crossing Borders: A Comprehensive Analysis of Migration Trends
"Crossing Lines: An Extensive Investigation of Relocation Patterns" digs into the unpredictable embroidery of worldwide movement, offering a canny assessment of the complex powers molding the development of individuals across borders. This extensive review explores the complicated elements driving relocation patterns, giving a nuanced comprehension of the financial, political, and ecological variables that impact the rhythmic movement of human versatility. The examination unfurls like a mosaic, catching the different inspirations that push people and networks to cross geological limits. Financial variations arise as a critical driver, with people looking for better open doors and further developed occupations in unfamiliar grounds. The examination investigates the effect of globalization, revealing insight into how interconnected economies impact movement designs and add to the development of transnational networks. Political disturbances and clashes become necessary central focuses as the review unloads the job of flimsiness and oppression in convincing individuals to look for shelter past their countries. By analyzing authentic and contemporary international occasions, "Crossing Boundaries" enlightens the manners by which political scenes shape relocation directions and effect the existences of those moving. Ecological variables become the overwhelming focus in this thorough examination, highlighting the developing impact of environmental change on movement. As locales wrestle with moving environments, rising ocean levels, and cataclysmic events, the review investigates how natural corruption adds to uprooting and prompts people to look for more secure shelters. The exploration likewise draws in with the cultural elements of movement, investigating the intricacies of character, social transformation, and the development of diasporic networks. Through subjective and quantitative focal points, "Crossing Lines" illustrates the human experience inside the setting of movement, underlining the strength and flexibility of people as they explore new landscapes and fashion associations across societies. Generally, this complete examination rises above borders itself, offering an all encompassing perspective on the interconnected variables that move people across the globe. "Crossing Lines" fills in as a significant asset for policymakers, researchers, and worldwide residents, encouraging a more profound comprehension of the complicated embroidery of relocation patterns and the ramifications for our interconnected world.

The first book of its kind internationally, Border Sexualities, Border Families in Schools explores the experiences of bisexual students, mixed sexual orientation families, and polyamorous families in schools. For the first time, a book foregrounds the voices and experiences of these students and families who are "falling into the gaps" or on the borders of a school's gay/straight divide in anti-homophobia policies and programs, and schools recognizing families as meaning either heterosexual couples, or, increasingly, homosexual couples. Drawing from interviews and online research with students, parents, and teachers, as well as providing a comprehensive overview and analysis of international educational and health research, and media/popular cultural texts, this book addresses the following: · what are the problematic and/or empowering experiences and strategies of bisexual students, multisexual and polyamorous families in educational systems ? · what could schools be doing to promote healthy sexual, emotional and social relationships for bisexual students and multisexual/polyamorous families in school communities? · what recommendations/implementations do bisexual students and multisexual/polyamorous families suggest in regard to school curriculum, school policies, and student welfare in order to acknowledge and support family diversity in school communities? In particular, the research findings which are reported in this book show that "border sexualities" and "border families" use three types of strategies: · passing or normalization and assimilation in school settings; · bordering or negotiation and navigation between the private world of home and public world of school; and · polluting or non-compliance and resistance, thereby outing their sexualities and families within the school world. Within a social deconstructionist, multicultural, post-colonial, feminist, queer theoretical framework, this book spans health, education, sociology, psychology, gender, family, sexuality and cultural studies.

Despite international conventions and human rights declarations, millions of people have suffered and continue to suffer torture, slavery, or violent deaths, with no remedy or recourse. They have fallen, in essence, “below the law,” outside of law’s protection. Often violated by their own governments, sometimes with support from transnational corporations, or nations benefiting from human rights violations, how can these victims find justice? Lawyers Beyond Borders reveals the inner workings of the advances and retreats in the quest for redress and restoration of human rights for those whom international legal-political systems have failed. The process of justice begins in the US, with a handful of human rights lawyers steeped in the American tradition of advancing civil rights through civil litigation. As the civil rights movement gained traction and an ample supply of lawyers, this small cadre turned their attention toward advancing international human rights, via the US legal system. They sought to build another piece of the rights revolution, this time for survivors of egregious human rights violations in faraway lands. These cases were among the most unlikely to be slated for victory: The abuses occurred abroad; the victims are aliens, usually with few, if any, resources; the perpetrators are politically powerful, resourced, and well connected, often members of governments, militaries, or multinational corporations. The legal and political systems’ structures are mostly stacked against these survivors, many who bear the scars of trauma and terror.Lawyers Beyond Borders is about agency. It is about how, in the face of powerful interests and seemingly insurmountable obstacles—political, psychological, economic, geographical, and physical—a small group of lawyers and survivors navigated a terrain of daunting barriers to begin building, case-by-case, new pathways to justice for those who otherwise would have none.

Educating Across Borders is an ethnography of the learning experience of transfronterizxs, border-crossing students living on the U.S.-Mexico border whose lives span two countries and two languages. Authors María Teresa de la Piedra, Blanca Araujo, and Alberto Esquinca examine language practices and funds of knowledge these students use as learning resources to navigate through their binational, dual language school experience. The authors, who themselves live and work on the border, question artificially created cultural and linguistic borders. To explore this issue, they employed participant-observation, focus groups, and individual interviews with teachers, administrators, and staff members to construct rich understandings of the experiences of transfronterizx students. These ethnographic accounts of their daily lives counter entrenched deficit perspectives about transnational learners. Drawing on border theory, immigration and border studies, funds of knowledge, and multimodal literacies, Educating Across Borders is a critical contribution toward the formation of a theory of physical and metaphorical border crossings that ethnic minoritized students in U.S. schools must make as they traverse the educational system.
