Warnings of the Eternal Spirit, to the City of Edenburgh, Pronounced by the Mouths of Margaret MacKenzie, and James Cuninghame
The 18th century was a wealth of knowledge, exploration and rapidly growing technology and expanding record-keeping made possible by advances in the printing press. In its determination to preserve the century of revolution, Gale initiated a revolution of its own: digitization of epic proportions to preserve these invaluable works in the largest archive of its kind. Now for the first time these high-quality digital copies of original 18th century manuscripts are available in print, making them highly accessible to libraries, undergraduate students, and independent scholars. The Age of Enlightenment profoundly enriched religious and philosophical understanding and continues to influence present-day thinking. Works collected here include masterpieces by David Hume, Immanuel Kant, and Jean-Jacques Rousseau, as well as religious sermons and moral debates on the issues of the day, such as the slave trade. The Age of Reason saw conflict between Protestantism and Catholicism transformed into one between faith and logic -- a debate that continues in the twenty-first century.++++The below data was compiled from various identification fields in the bibliographic record of this title. Courting the Media

Courting the Media

Media relations are not just for the rich and famous. Mackenzie takes readers behind the scenes of high-profile cases in which men, women, and even children were thrust into the spotlight—many because they were victims of unwarranted prosecution by the justice system and inaccurate depiction by the press. With media-savvy guidance from Mackenzie, these people and their lawyers successfully challenged the prejudiced portraits that police and prosecutors tried to present. In this book, Mackenzie also weighs in on celebrity cases, analyzing how they and their lawyers used the media to their advantage, or how they failed to do so. Mackenzie is a consummate expert in the use of media relations in the court of law. Her conviction that a right to demand a fair portrayal by the press must not be reserved for the prosecution or the wealthy has propelled her career as she has fought for the falsely accused, the unjustly portrayed, and their families. The media coverage of suspects or defendants by CNN, the nightly news, the New York Times, or the local paper affects the court of public opinion, even before their trials, and is often as important as what happens in front of a judge or jury. Private industry and corporations have long used media consultants. Prosecutors have public information officers to advise their lawyers. To level the playing field, all lawyers need to be ready to represent their clients before the media as well as the jury. Not only can this be done ethically, but as Mackenzie shows in this book, given what defendants are up against today, it may be unethical to ignore the media when the other side is using every possible opportunity to advance their portrayal of the accused or the victim.

When learning about leadership, education or entrepreneurship in Asia, you often hear only abstract ideas and theories. Truly learning about Asia and its emerging issues requires experiencing that vast and varied continent for yourself. Such an experience means engaging in conversation with a journalist in Shanghai who espouses "both government and society," encountering a tearful student in Hong Kong who speaks about the competitive, exam-based education system; immersing oneself in the surreal orderliness of Singapore while walking its streets; feeling the energy from entrepreneurs in Kuala Lumpur who want to bring change to their country; or listening a North korean defector in Seoul who said that "freedom is like a drug." Education and Innovation is a collection of personal essays from the two Asia Leadership Treks and seven Asia Leadership Fellowship Tours that took place in 2014. Known as one-of-a-kind experiential learning and public service programs, eighty-eight graduate students and Fellows from Harvard, MIT, and Tufts University travelled to Shanghai, Hong Kong, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, and Seoul in January; to Tokyo, Seoul, Beijing, Yangon, Bangkok, Jakarta, and Bali in June; and Beijing, Manila, Seoul, Ansan, Pohang, and Kuala Lumpur in July and August. Adopting the responsibilities and mindsets of diplomats, journalists, and teachers in their meetings with individuals from all walks of life, the Trekkers and Fellows in their essays offer a much-needed window into the complex story of contemporary Asia.

Khirbet et-Tannur is a Nabataean site dating from the second century B.C. to the fourth to sixth centuries A.D. located on a hilltop above the Wadi el-Hasa near Khirbet edh-Dharih, 70 km north of Petra along the King’s Highway. In 1937, Nelson Glueck excavated Khirbet et-Tannur on behalf of the American Schools of Oriental Research and the Department of Antiquities of Transjordan, but died before completing a final report. Now, in two extensively illustrated volumes, the results of Glueck’s excavations are finally published, based on previously unstudied excavation records and archaeological materials in the ASOR Nelson Glueck Archive at the Semitic Museum, Harvard University. Volume 1 is devoted to the architecture of the temple, the dating of its successive phases, its sculptural decoration and iconography, and to a discussion of Nabataean religion, including the evidence for its connections with the religion of Iron Age Edom and its continuation at the temple of Khirbet et-Tannur well into the Christian era, before the A.D. 363 earthquake brought an end to the site. The volume closes with observations about iconoclasm at Khirbet et-Tannur, Khirbet edh-Dharih and Petra. Annual of ASOR 67
