Deep Dark Secrets of a Preacher's Daughter is an enchanting and interesting life-long story of a poor black girl's journey we all take as we go through life and try to sort out facts from fiction, illusion from reality as we come to the realization of our childhood dreams and discover how life really works. The book gives a clear understanding of how to get from where we are to where we want to be. It demonstrates efficiently and effectively with hands-on experiences. Growing up on a farm, Essie developed a great dislike for farm life working without the aid of modern machinery. It teaches how to develop a read map and learn how to pole-vault your life to almost any height or lifestyle you desire. One can compare this book with a small stream with many tributaries flowing into it making a great voluminous river -with how she combined the many little secrets of her accomplishments into one big dark secret that fulfilled her life long dream of what she wanted her life to be like. For all of those who have struggles with childhood yearnings, and with feelings of not being good enough to pole-vault to higher levels, or having given up the urge to search for an answer to your lifelong dream, Essie's book of the Dark Secrets Of A Preachers Daughter very artfully demonstrates how it can be accomplished. It proves to you that there is a rainbow behind every dark cloud. As Napoleon Bonaparte once said, "you first make up your mind and the rest is easy."

Learning to care for a baby monkey and a chameleon, growing giant vegetables, meeting Pygmies in the jungle, finding the source of the Nile that Davidson and Stanley once searched for, sleeping in the open of the Serengeti prairie, and hiking around the rim of a volcano were some of the rare activities that Marilyn Kellum Barr describes that she experienced while living in Burundi, Africa as she attended schools there and in Kenya in the 1960's. In The Heart of Africa she reports that the native people of this tiny, mountainous agricultural land lived simply, valuing their family, their small plot of land, and their mud hut, while many found Jesus and worshiped Him with enthusiasm in the midst of poverty and government strife. Even though she had to eat foods she found abhorant, she loved the culture and challenges of central Africa as her parents reached out to the people and worked with native leaders to begin a Christian radio station. Through God's grace and the hard work of many Christians, Radio Cordac opened to air the gospel in five languages, also providing a school where Burundian students could learn electronics, recording techniques, and other relevant skills while working alongside other missionaries. While the station is now closed and missionaries are no longer allowed in the country, she shares reports from family members who have returned more recently on short-term visas that faithful Christians abound in this country and that a Christian radio station still offers the people spiritual hope even though electricity and running water are not available to rural people.

This volume presents a systematic review of interprofessional education in health and social care. This is accompanied by a wider-ranging critique of interprofessional education, grounded by experience, and informed by sources beyond the evaluations that qualified for inclusion in the review. Synthesising the evidence base for interprofessional education nevertheless remains central, with 353 studies surveyed in the first instance, from which 107 studies form the basis for the final analysis. The book does much more than amass evidence. It revisits conventional wisdom; setting an agenda to help interested parties perform better by applying lessons learned, remedying weaknesses and renewing efforts to address unanswered questions. The first three chapters set the scene for the systematic review and its findings. The middle section of the book articulates the findings of the review. Finally, the closing chapters consider values and attitudes, theoretical perspectives and offer conclusions. Arguments, assumptions and evidence in this publication are presented to inform policy making, programme planning, teaching and research.

This volume presents a practical guide to the development, application and evaluation of effective interprofessional education in health and social care. It is both a practice manual for those in hands-on roles and a reflective guide for those indirectly involved in professional education. The book provides clear advice on methods of establishing training and education programmes and evaluating their effectiveness, while simultaneously examining the relationship between initial application, ongoing maintenance and subsequent assessment. The authors expound multiple points of view that will generate individual thinking and approaches to both the practice and the estimation of interprofessional education schemes. The book is divided into three sections: the first introduces the differing approaches to professional education and the rationale behind measuring their worth; the second part focuses on planning, development and delivery; the third part advises in a robust and pragmatic way on modes of measuring the efficacy of programmes. The interrelation of these topics is then examined to provide a synthesised perspective on the development, delivery and evaluation of interprofessional education.
