F#ck the Law of Attraction: Improving Mental Health & Behavior Through Self-Awareness, Honesty & Happiness
The law of attraction isn't a bad thing. It has just been made out to be a secret it isn't, and likened to ordering whatever you damn well want from the drive-thru window without having to do anything-or even pay for it Who are all these people who suddenly know the exact workings of the entire Universe? And why do they only accept credit cards? OR Are they just trying to sell you stuff? Yes You can be wealthy, healthy, whatever we want; but without a solid foundation of understanding who YOU are, how can you possibly know what it is you even want, let alone develop the skills required to begin to make it happen? With a little effort and permission from yourself, you might find just what you need, even the person you want to spend the rest of your life with, living happily ever after........(spoiler alert) it's you The information within this book can be used by individuals or easily adapted to group/workshop situations, as it has been for over 15 years with great success. It gets back to basics and is simple to follow, enabling the reader to address triggers for diagnosed conditions such as anxiety and depression, addiction, violence and rage issues, feeling inadequate, and so many other things that prevent real self-development and empowerment for men and women alike. Many people will exclaim, or even shout out...F___ the law of attraction when things don't go to plan or they don't get what they want after 'asking' the universe...... The 'secret' to the law of attraction is in one's own personal vibration. You're not drawing or attracting anything. You are witnessing the amplification of your own frequency within the physical world and you don't raise your frequency by demanding petty crap from a vacuum, you do so by changing who you are as a person. 'Asking' the universe is a declaration of independence from the universe itself, and from the universe within yourself. This little book is filled with simple, yet potent exercises and thought provoking meditations to allow one to begin to re-write negative self-talk scripts, re-frame negative situations and see feelings of alienation or low self esteem for what they truly represent to the individual. There are no mistakes and there is no absolute answer to any problem. Relax Give yourself permission to be you again. When our own mental/emotional vibration is balanced & harmonious, our outer world reflects our inner world. mental and physical health is more valuable than any items we might possess. When our mental health and equanimity are unbalanced, we experience a distorted view of the world around us. Bringing peace, calm and happiness is the first step towards a more abundant and fulfilling life. Being honest with yourself and developing an ability to sense when things are about to change, or when you need to begin to start re-writing your internal dialogue scripts.

Maya Figurines

Rather than view the contours of Late Classic Maya social life solely from towering temple pyramids or elite sculptural forms, this book considers a suite of small anthropomorphic, zoomorphic, and supernatural figurative remains excavated from household refuse deposits. Maya Figurines examines these often neglected objects and uses them to draw out relationships between the Maya state and its subjects. These figurines provide a unique perspective for understanding Maya social and political relations; Christina T. Halperin argues that state politics work on the microscale of everyday routines, localized rituals, and small-scale representations. Her comprehensive study brings together archeology, anthropology, and art history with theories of material culture, performance, political economy, ritual humor, and mimesis to make a fascinating case for the role politics plays in daily life. What she finds is that, by comparing small-scale figurines with state-sponsored, often large-scale iconography and elite material culture, one can understand how different social realms relate to and represent one another. In Maya Figurines, Halperin compares objects from diverse households, archeological sites, and regions, focusing especially on figurines from Petén, Guatemala, and comparing them to material culture from Belize, the northern highlands of Guatemala, the Usumacinta River, the Campeche coastal area, and Mesoamerican sites outside the Maya zone. Ultimately, she argues, ordinary objects are not simply passive backdrops for important social and political phenomena. Instead, they function as significant mechanisms through which power and social life are intertwined.
Wouldn't Take Nothing for My Journey Now
Maya Angelou, one of the best-loved authors of our time shares the wisdom of a remarkable life in this bestselling spiritual classic. This is Maya Angelou talking from the heart, down to earth and real, but also inspiring. This is a book to be treasured, a book about being in all ways a woman, about living well, about the power of the word, and about the power of spirituality to move and shape your life. Passionate, lively, and lyrical, Maya Angelou's latest unforgettable work offers a gem of truth on every page. Maya Angelou speaks out . . . On Faith: "I'm taken aback when people walk up to me and tell me they are Christians. My first response is the question 'Already' It seems to me a lifelong endeavor to try to live the life of a Christian. It is in the search itself that one finds ecstasy." On Racism: "It is time for parents to teach young people early on that in diversity there is beauty and there is strength. We all should know that diversity makes for a rich tapestry, and we must understand that all the threads of the tapestry are equal in value no matter their color." On Taking Time for Ourselves: "Each person deserves a day away in which no problems are confronted, no solutions searched for. Each of us needs to withdraw from the cares which will not withdraw from us. A day away acts as a spring tonic. It can dispel rancor, transform indecision, and renew the spirit." On Death and Grieving: "When I sense myself filling with rage at the absence of a beloved, I try as soon as possible to remember that my concerns should be focused on what I can learn from my departed love. What legacy was left which can help me in the art of living a good life?" On Style: "Style is as unique and nontransferable and perfectly personal as a fingerprint. It is wise to take the time to develop one's own way of being, increasing those things one does well and eliminating the elements in one's character which can hinder and diminish the good personality."

You wouldn't find a recipe to turn rich overnight. Rather, the book provides a solid foundation for setting the psychological stage for strong financial habits. Another feature of They don't teach you how to get rich at school is the anecdotal references in the book. Laura likes to use lots of anecdotes to illustrate her points and she is quite good at it.
