Much has been written about the failure of White American public school teachers to effectively teach low-income children of color to read and write. Scholars have offered numerous explanations for this failure, including the reluctance of teacher preparation programs to address cultural competence and the lack of cultural diversity among teacher educators. In response to reported failures such as high attrition rates of novice teachers and low test scores, American public schools are being subjected to increased standardization of the curriculum and high stakes testing. O tempo de movimento (do contacto com a bola at ao lan amento), o tempo de voo (do lan amento at ao contacto com o alvo) e o tempo total (do contacto com a bola at ao contacto com o alvo) foram medidos em 31 jogadoras de softbol destras da Divis o I. Cada participante completou 10 ensaios de lan amento e de campo (5 SA e 5 OA) numa "situa o de jogo". Os resultados mostraram que o tempo de movimento do SA mais r pido do que o tempo de movimento do OA, o tempo de voo do SA mais lento do que o tempo de voo do OA e o tempo total do SA mais r pido do que o tempo total do OA, demonstrando que o estilo de lan amento do SA mais r pido. A mec nica comum do SA foi ent o investigada, examinando tr s grupos de lan amentos SA, lan amentos SA r pidos, moderados e lentos.
