Are we living in the last days?Church history is divided on this important Christian doctrine. The existing prophetic models for the last days and second coming of Christ do not provide adequate explanations for biblical passages stating Jesus would return within the first century. This inadequacy results from the piecemeal development of these models. This sporadic development has created models that demand erroneous assumptions and unbiblical corrective devices in their interpretation of key passages and terms.Michael A. Rogers consults volumes of Scripture, literature, historical sources, and lines of reasoning to develop a new, better model of biblical prophecy. The end result is a prophetic model capable of explaining these problematic passages while respecting both the Bible's teaching and the orthodox doctrine of the historical Church.FINALIST: 2021 Southern Christian Writers' Conference (SCWC) Notable Book Award- Nonfiction

CThis easy-to-administer tool consists of two tests on separate "streams" of development: visual-motor functioning and expressive and receptive language development. These tests help pinpoint any instances of delay (a slower rate of milestone acquisition), deviancy (any unusual development within a specific stream), and dissociation (an uneven rate of milestone acquisition). Fast and easy to complete, The Capute Scales require minimal equipment and can be administered in just 6 to 20 minutes. Because the tests measure functioning across two streams of development, The Capute Scales help clinicians distinguish between global developmental delays and specific areas of concern. This product is sold in a package of 20.
Improving Nature?

Improving Nature?

Little more than a decade ago the term 'genetic engineering' was hardly known outside research laboratories. By now, though, its use is widespread. Those in favour of genetic engineering - and those against it - tell us that it has the potential to change our lives perhaps more than any other scientific or technological advance. But what are the likely consequences of genetic engineering? Is it ethically acceptable? Should we be trying to improve on nature? The authors, a biologist and a moral philosopher, examine the implications of genetic engineering in every aspect of our lives. The underlying science is explained in a way easily understood by a general reader, and the moral and ethical considerations that arise are fully discussed. Throughout, the authors clarify the issues involved so that readers can make up their own minds about these controversial issues.

With the forces of globalization as a backdrop, this casebook develops labor and employment law in the context of the national laws of nine countries important to the global economy - the US, Canada, Mexico, UK, Germany, France, China, Japan and India. These national jurisdictions are highlighted by considering international labor standards promulgated by the International Labor Organization as well as the rulings and standards that emerge from two very different regional trade arrangements - the labor side accord to NAFTA and the European Union. Across all these different sources of law, this book considers the law of individual employment, collective labor law dealing with unionization as well as the laws against discrimination, the laws protecting privacy and the systems used to resolve labor and employment disputes. This is the first set of law school course materials in English covering international and comparative employment and labor law.

That older patients can be successfully treated has only recently been recognized by professionals and by older persons themselves. That older persons can also be taught new skills or retaught previously existing skills constitutes even newer knowledge. By focusing on the reversibility 0/ behavioral defidts in the elderly the authors, under the leadership of Dr. Roger Patterson, have made both a scientific and a humanitarian contribution to the well-being of older persons. In this volume they have presented a theoretical basis and a practical how-to method of overcoming behavioral deficits. They have demonstrated that their modular technique of fostering improved functioning in such areas as activities of daily living and sodal skills not only has been successful but also has allowed individuals to return to less restrictive environments or to completely independent living. The approach is an interdisciplinary one, appropriately since older people often experience diffirulties in multiple areas of function ing. The authors have tried to integrate social, medical, and behav ioral approaches, with an emphasis on behavioral methodologies. Although this book deals primarily with behavioral approaches to treatment of the elderly in a single setting, the volume c1early con stitutes achallenge to other scientists and clinicians to apply the techniques described here in other settings. A medical colleague of mine, a geriatrician, recently expressed the opinion that he had never encountered an older patient for whom he could not do something to improve health.

Development Economics is designed for advanced undergraduate economic development and international economics course. The text is exceptional in that it provides more continuity between the methods of development economics and other fields of economics. The text is a framework for the study of development theory. Because development theory is based on the microeconomics of household and firm choice, students will be familair with the methods of economics used. It also illustrates extensions of standard economic theory to development economics using graphical and mathematiclal expositions.

Post-Operative Recovery and Pain Relief describes the major problems that may be encountered during recovery from anaesthesia and suggest how they may be avoided by careful monitoring, vigilant nursing and sound organization. The behaviour of patients during recovery is influenced by their pre-operative medical condition, by drugs they may receive both pre- and intra-operatively and by the nature of the surgery they have undergone. This updated and revised version of Eltringham's "Post Anaesthetic Recovery" contains sections devoted to each of these areas which reflect the current best practice. Post-Operative Recovery and Pain Relief will be of interest not only to nursing staff working in operating theatres and post-operative care units but also to those working in surgical units, house officers and junior anaesthetists.
