This is the first of a series of up to 20 volumes focusing on the modern history of the church in China. The books will, for the most part, cover one province each, and will be organised by decades. Each history starts with the arrival of the first evangelical missionaries in a province, and continues through to the present day. The books include many vivid brief biographies of the extraordinary people who have been part of this remarkable story. Each volume includes a number of photographs, painstakingly collected by the author over a period of years. Partly because of its explosive growth in recent decades there is no accurate, readable account of what has happened to the Chinese church. Few Chinese believers know anyone who has been a Christian for more than ten years. This series is designed not only to inform the wider world of the astonishing work of the Spirit in China, but to provide Chinese believers (and members of the immense Chinese diaspora) with some sense of their own roots.

Leaving home and his native New Zealand aged 16, Paul Hattaway found himself in Australia, homeless, hungry, and lonely, sleeping on the roof of a public bathroom. "A waste of oxygen" was his high school principal's assessment. After a fellow factory worker helped him to find faith, he quickly became convinced that God was calling him to China and in 1988 Paul arrived in Hong Kong with nothing more than a backpack, a single contact, and $50. He began work as a Bible courier, carrying hundreds at a time across the Chinese border under the noses of the guards. Today Paul Hattaway leads Asia Harvest, the ministry he founded, which supports thousands of indigenous missionaries and has supplied over 10 million Bibles to China and millions more to Christians throughout Asia. An Asian Harvest is his astonishing story.

God's Mighty Acts in China In The China Chronicles, Paul Hattaway draws on more than thirty years' experience in China and numerous interviews with church leaders to provide insight into how the Living God brought about the largest revival in the history of Christianity. Xinjiang, a vast region in northwest China, has been much in the news in recent years because of the plight of more than one million Muslim Uyghur people there. But Xinjiang also has a long Christian history. Today there are nearly one million believers, mostly among the Han Chinese who have migrated into the region in recent decades. In this book, the sixth in the series, Hattaway focuses on the heroic efforts to reach the Uyghurs and other Muslim groups who remain largely untouched by the gospel. 'Amazing story and highly recommended for church libraries.' Church Libraries The remarkable true story of renowned Chinese Christian Brother Yun. This is the gripping story of how God took a young, half-starved boy from a poor village in Henan province and placed him on the front line for Jesus, in the face of impossible odds. Instead of focusing on the many miracles or experiences of suffering, however, Yun turns his gaze to and centers his story on the character and beauty of Jesus. Interspersed with his personal account are contributions from his wife, Deling, made mostly during her husband's frequent periods of imprisonment. This dramatic autobiography of one of China's dedicated, courageous, and intensely persecuted house church leaders is a watershed book that will turn the reader to prayer and praise. It deserves comparison with past classics such as Tortured for Christ by Richard Wurmbrand, or the Life of Watchman Nee.

En absolutt must for vestens sovende kirke.»

A vivid inspirational reference volume describing how these martyrs lived and why and how they died. The underlying purpose is to motivate readers to a deeper commitment to Christ. Most of the information about recent martyrs has come from personal interviews with eyewitnesses. Other sources include books, magazines, correspondence. The historical context and incidents leading to these martyrdoms is important, and the book is laid out in chronological order. It is the fruit of many years' research. The book makes remarkably inspirational reading.

Project Pearl was the delivery, in June 1981, of one million Bibles into China by a tugboat and barge manned by twenty dedicated missionaries. The delivery was soaked in prayer and took place right under the noses of the People's Liberation Army and the naval patrol boats and coastal radar of China's Guangdong Province. It was organised by Brother David, a big ex-Marine and friend of Brother Andrew ('God's Smuggler'). David's military training proved crucial in this audacious, visionary feat. His story is at the heart of this book. The immediate consequence of Project Pearl was that Chinese printing presses started to turn out Bibles too: the longer term consequence was to stoke the flames of the Chinese revival which are now so wonderfully evident.
