Die wichtigeren weiblichen Figuren werden bezüglich ihres Verhaltens, ihrer Vorstellungen vom Leben und ihrer Beziehungen zu anderen Figuren analysiert. Die Nebenfiguren, wie beispielsweise die Kammermädchen oder auch Arabella, die junge Tochter Marwoods, werden außer Sicht gelassen. Der Schwerpunkt dieser Arbeit liegt auf den zwei Protagonistinnen, die zugleich Titelheldinnen sind, Sara Sampson und Emilia Galotti, aber auch ihre Antagonistinnen, Marwood und Orsina, sollen näher betrachtet werden. Die Figur der Claudia Galotti, der Mutter der Protagonistin Emilia, wird auch untersucht. Am Ende werden die weiblichen Figuren aus diesen zwei Trauerspielen miteinander verglichen, um Parallelen bzw. Unterschiede aufzuweisen.
