The Niggle tells the story of Joe Jackson, a little boy who has never felt fear. Until the day a miniature monster swims in his ear The monster is the Niggle, a tiny terror, who whispers worries in Joe's head and makes him afraid. Will Joe Jackson let the Niggle win? Or will he learn resilience and how to overcome his fears? The Niggle, through humour and rhyme, tells young children that it's OK to feel fear. In fact, you can't be brave if you don't.A colourful, rhyming picture book for 5-8 year olds.
Are you afraid of THE DARK? Jacob Starke is. Jacob Starke is TERRIFIED Until, that is, he gets to meet The Dark face-to-face and shares an amazing adventure through the wonders of the night sky. Jacob Starke Loves The Dark is a charming rhyming picture book about being brave, outer space, loving plants and animals, and the importance of Dark Skies.Jacob Starke Loves The Dark, the sixth picture book written and illustrated by Peta Rainford, is written in effortless rhyme (think Julia Donaldson) which young children will love and want to hear again and again. Aimed principally at 3-8-year-olds, it has themes and ideas that will engage and provide talking-points for older children and adults too. The important environmental issue of light pollution is subtly tackled with beautiful illustrations, humour and a light touch.
Milly's Marvellous Mistakes is a funny, rhyming picture book for the X-factor generation of children brought up to expect overnight success and instant gratification Our hero, Milly May, more than anything, wants to paint beautiful pictures. But she always ends up with blots and smudges. She really WISHES she was a better artist, and then - hey presto - her fairy godmother appears (looking a little bit like the artist Frida Khalo ) and grants her wish.Milly is soon turning out paintings in the style of famous artists, including: Van Gogh and Da Vinci There are lots of great visual jokes in this beautifully illustrated and colourful book. But Milly soon discovers that success that comes too easily may not be worth having - especially if it means losing friends. This funny, rhyming picture book - about art, friendship and the dangers of instant gratification - says it's ok to make mistakes. Like Peta Rainford's previous book, The Niggle, it tackles the issue of resilience in a humorous, imaginative and child-friendly way. This book would be great for early readers or as a bedtime story for children of around 4 to 8 years of age.
Fish friends Dab and Blenny are upset by the plastic that washes into their lovely rockpool home. Crab, on the other hand, just LOVES the shiny bright colour... But when Blenny gets caught in plastic twine, Crab finally understands the danger of plastics in the ocean. Inspired by the rockpools of the Isle of Wight, Crab, Dab & Blenny is a fun, rhyming picture book about friendship, with an important environmental message about plastic pollution. It's a great way of introducing young children to this important issue, whether they are independent early readers or cuddling up for a bedtime story. It's also a great resource for teachers in Key Stage 1 (KS1).
Peta a Golden Cat and a human called Maria, fall through a headboard into an amazing world called Middlestop. In this strange world there are homes that expand to fit whoever enters them, unusual foods and thrilling encounters with many different creatures, A nasty Black Cat is menacing the people of Middlestop. 'I've got a problem with men .... I don't know whether it's a problem with other things as well ... I am afraid of what men represent ... I feel they have more power.'This is how Peta begins to tell her story to her potential therapist. Six therapists are given the opportunity of assessing Peta: what do they wish to know about her? how do they understand her? how might they work with her? and what outcome can they predict for her as a result of therapy? In this fascinating book - which starts with Peta's own story - the reader has the chance to see six different therapists at work, drawing on the same initial material from the one real client. The similarities and differences between therapies and therapists are highlighted. And at the end the reader is able to enter Peta's experience of the process, and decide with her, which one she might choose in her search for a therapist. This highly original volume will appeal to a wide range of students and practitioners involved in counselling and psychotherapy, particularly those interested in comparing different therapeutic approaches.

PLEASE NOTE THAT I AM NOT P.E.T.A (people for the ethical treatment of animals) This is a cookbook to satisfy those curious about trying vegan food or for those who already eat vegan, who want more flavour in their everyday life. I often hear the question, "what do vegans eat?". In this book you can pick and chose recipes or you can follow (summer or winter recipes) a weekly or monthly eating plan to revitalise health and shift excess weight. This book is a simple way to integrate more strengthening and preventative foods into your diet. You could make a permanent fixture of Peta's VEGAN TWIST eating 1 day a week for your family, or go on a 1 - 4 week (winter or summer recipes) eating plan. As with most things in life, being organised is key or things just don't get done. The convenient weekly shopping lists are designed to take the hassle out of trying something new, if you embark on a weekly eating plan. There are no quick fixes and packet mixes that can give you the health buzz you crave. Putting in some time and effort will give top results. The philosophy behind the book is taste. I was often disappointed with vegan recipes that failed to satisfy in the taste department. I wanted every meal to be satisfying (taste and filling) and be healthy, so that when I finished eating I wasn't feeling that overindulging guilt and wasn't planing the next days meagre pickings to compensate. I like eating tasty food. I like carbohydrates. I hate counting calories. I like knowing that what I am eating makes me healthy now and for the long run. I hate pounding out the exercise for little visible gain; if I have not been eating the right foods, no amount of exercise will shift that mass. A balanced vegan eating plan is a brilliant catalyst for obtaining a slim figure with moderate gentle exercise. Hopefully this book will share some of my ideas and help people with busy lives to integrate some vegan cooking into their weekly routine. For those of you who already eat vegan, I hope you will be inspired by some fresh and tasty Peta's VEGAN TWIST ideas for your menu

With more than two million members and supporters, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is the world's largest animal-rights organization, and its founder and president, Ingrid Newkirk, is one of the most well-known and most effective activists in America. She has spearheaded worldwide efforts to improve the treatment of animals in manufacturing, entertainment, and elsewhere. Every day, in laboratories, food factories, and other industries, animals by the millions are subjected to inhumane cruelty. In this accessible guide, Newkirk teaches readers hundreds of simple ways to stop thoughtless animal cruelty and make positive choices. For each topic, Newkirk provides hard facts, personal insight, inspiration, ideas, and resources, including: - How to eat healthfully and compassionately - How to adopt animals rather than support puppy mills - How to make their vote count and change public opinion - How to switch to cruelty-free cosmetics and clothing - How to choose amusements that protect rather than exploit animals. With public concern for the well-being of animals greater than ever--particularly among young people--this timely, practical book offers exciting and easy ways to make a difference.
