Based on "Management of Catering Operations", this revised work concentrates on operational systems, demonstrating all theory in practice. It is written for the student and illustrated with diagrams and tables. It explains how to select the right things to do for any type of foodservice operation, including: understanding the customer, devising menus, planning and design of the physical environment, staffing, developing standards, control and quality. The second part looks at how to carry out these things successfully.

Indian Religions is an expansive collection of the key written and oral texts by spiritual teachers from South Asia, covering 3,500 years and all the major traditions-Buddhism, Jainism, Hinduism, Islam, Sikhism, and "new" Indian religions. The volume provides clear translations of extracts from original documents and texts from most of the well-known and many of the lesser-known individuals and traditions. Overlapping parts and sections each comprise a historically and thematically defined stage of a tradition. The reader is thus able to follow the chronological development of the various traditions without isolating them from one another. Each section includes a context-setting introduction which provides historical, cultural, and textual background. A general introduction lays the foundations for the text's theoretical framework and approach. Indian Religions is the most complete and best-organized anthology of Indian religious/spiritual texts published to date. It serves as an introduction to the history of religions in South Asia, and will appeal to readers interested in India and Eastern religions as well as students of religion and South Asian culture.

This volume deals with the question of welfare provision, which is conceived as the modern civilized response to the problem of poor people in society. Welfare mechanisms have generally been thought of in a relatively limited way, constructed with the world of the able-bodied industrial worker in mind.

The theory of automorphic forms has seen dramatic developments in recent years. In particular, important instances of Langlands functoriality have been established. This volume presents three weeks of lectures from the IAS/Park City Mathematics Institute Summer School on automorphic forms and their applications. It addresses some of the general aspects of automorphic forms, as well as certain recent advances in the field. The book starts with the lectures of Borel on the basic theory of automorphic forms, which lay the foundation for the lectures by Cogdell and Shahidi on converse theorems and the Langlands-Shahidi method, as well as those by Clozel and Li on the Ramanujan conjectures and graphs. The analytic theory of GL(2)-forms and $L$-functions are the subject of Michel's lectures, while Terras covers arithmetic quantum chaos. The volume also includes a chapter by Vogan on isolated unitary representations, which is related to the lectures by Clozel. This volume is recommended for independent study or an advanced topics course. It is suitable for graduate students and researchers interested in automorphic forms and number theory.Information for our distributors: Titles in this series are co-published with the Institute for Advanced Study/Park City Mathematics Institute.
