Under Sellergrens tid blev Hälleberga en vallfartsort för stora skaror som sökte sig dit för att få del av Sellergrens förkunnelse. En av hans många adjunkter var Jonas Sandell, far till sångförfattarinnan Lina Sandell. I hennes sånger har Sellergrens själavård nått ut över hela världen. Islossningen sätter in Sellergrens gärning i ett stort, europeiskt sammanhang. Det klarnar att Sellergrens förkunnelse och själavård präglats av den evangeliska ortodoxi som han först mötte i katekesen. Hans teologi är själavård, hans själavård är teologi. Han förstod och kunde förklara Guds olika sätt att vara mot människor i olika situationer. Han visste hur en levande tro på Jesus kommer till, mognar och växer. Därmed har Sellergren förblivande insikter att ge vår egen tid.
