When Azure's principal gives her the chance to turn their school's traditional (and boring) senior prom into an event that will appeal to everyone, not just the jocks and cheerleaders, she jumps at the opportunity. Soon, Azure manages to convince her best friends, Luke and Radhika, to join the prom committee as well. Facing heavy opposition and admittedly clueless about prom logistics, they are nonetheless determined to succeed - if Luke's and Azure's secret crushes on Radhika don't push the prom committee, and their friendships, to the breaking point first.Told in two voices and filled with comical missed connections, It's Our Prom (So Deal With It) reveals the ups and downs of planning an alternative prom -- while dealing with an unrequited crush on your best friend - with National Book Award finalist Julie Anne Peters's unmistakable resonance and wit.

When the relay race teams are chosen in gym class, it's clear that one team doesn't have a chance of winning: Jenny is more interested in eating candy than running around a track; Prairie has a bad leg; Lydia is a complete klutz; and Max is, well, Max. But together, they proudly dub themselves the 'Snob Squad' and vow revenge on their arch enemies, the Neon Nikes, headed by the principal's spoiled daughter, Ashley Krupps. As the Snob Squad members band together to thwart the Neon Nikes, they realise that their greatest weapon might not be as out of reach as they think.

Measuring Psychopathology

Measuring Psychopathology

Measuring Psychopathology describes the methods by which the signs and symptoms of mental disorder are elicited, examined and evaluated. Written for the non-clinical researcher as well as for those with clinical experience, the authors start by considering the question 'what is psychopathology?' They then employ a historical perspective to explain why and how mental disorders are currently classified, and how the use of an operational approach to diagnosis was adopted. The use of operational criteria to define psychiatric disorder has facilitated the development of standardised interviewing techniques, questionnaires and rating scales. These tools are all covered in some detail, not only with regard to adults with mental disorders, but also with reference to special and challenging groups such as children and the elderly, and those with a learning disability, substance misuse, or who have a personality disorder. The strengths and weaknesses of current methodologies are explored and debated as well as the future diagnostic needs for research in the 21st century. Essential reading for clinicians and non-clinical scientists engaged in research on psychiatric disorders, trainees and junior psychiatrists, and clinical psychologists.
