Tämän ei ole tarkoitus olla mikään suomalaisen muinaispukuhistorian tyhjentävä esitys. Olen vain kirjannut muistiin joukon yli 40 vuoden aikana tekemiäni havaintoja. Ensimmäisen kerran pääsin tekemisiin tärkeän pukuhistoriallisen löydön kanssa saadessani kesällä 1959 kaivaa omin käsin Ylöjärven Mikkolan hienon vyölaitteen. Se, että tuolloin, toisella varsinaisella kaivauspaikallani, onnistuin tulkitsemaan näkemäni oikein, on antanut minulle itseluottamusta monissa kiperissä tilanteissa. Saattaa olla, että juuri tuo löytö ratkaisisi vastaisen urani arkeologina.Tämän kirjasen päähenkilö on Euran puku, mutta sillä on sekä tausta että tulevaisuus, ja sen tähden puhun paljosta muustakin kuin Euran emännistä.

Missikisat - mikä ihana tekosyy!Tamperelaisen Tomi Mannolan kaverit hakivat kilvan Pirkkoa tanssimaan ja kehuivat, miten pikkusiskosta oli kasvanut varsinainen kaunotar. Tästä innostuneena isoveli ilmoitti pikkusiskon Miss Suomi kilpailuun päästäkseen Helsinkiin katsomaan kauniita naisia. Pirkon poikaystävä opiskeli pääkaupungissa, joten missikisoista tuli myös Pirkolle hyvä tekosyy matkustaa Helsinkiin.Kun Pirkko valittiin Miss Suomeksi, se toi Tomille 2 500 markan löytöpalkkion, jolla hän osti itselleen uuden pikkutakin. Pirkolle tuo ilta avasi ovet maailmaan, josta hän, Tomi tai Pirkon äiti May eivät tuona iltana voineet edes kuvitella.Pirkko oli koko elämänsä ajan uskaltanut heittäytyä uusiin haasteisiin ja uskonut itseensä. Supersuosittu “Tanssii tähtien kanssa” - tv-ohjelma oli juuri sellainen haaste, josta Pirkko tulisi nauttimaan. Näin hän ajatteli tammikuussa 2009, kun kevään kilpailijat esiteltiin yleisölle.Tiistaina, maaliskuun 3. päivänä, Pirkon aviomies Åke Lindman kuoli. Samana iltana Pirkolla oli Espoon teatterissa esitys. Viisi päivää myöhemmin, sunnuntaina, Pirkko aloitti lähes koko kevään kestävän ja fyysisesti erittäin haastavan tanssiohjelman.Elämää! on tarina tamperelaistytön matkasta kaikkien tuntemaksi filmitähdeksi, iskelmälaulajaksi ja näyttelijäksi.

This book is the first comprehensive study of the music and career of contemporary composer Kaija Saariaho. Born in Finland in 1952, Saariaho received her early musical training at the Sibelius Academy, where her close circle included composer and conductor Esa-Pekka Salonen.
