First part of five part less than serious Fantasy Series. Adventure, action, romance, humour and less than perfect plotting by various characters.
Being the second part of the five volume saga of the Nearly Not Quite Paladins in their initially inadvertent struggle to save an empire's worth of ordinary people from those who really think they can completely control Destiny and Powerful forces. This is most unfortunate for these conceited folk, because our heroes are truly getting annoyed, serious and still not listening all that much to those trying to command them.
Part 3 in the saga of our group of heroes by default. Now settled in their roles, armed with friendship, romance, cussedness and a failure to be conventional with any opposition, they must put an end to the Princesses Mileadra's over-wrought schemes while trying to keep her alive; deal with threats, serious, vainglorious and accidental and try to avoid too much influence from authorities. All of which is continuing to ensure Sherevine and Ven still only find the time for but a relatively chaste romance.

Each year many new Greek inscriptions and papyri are published. Others are supplemented or revised. For teachers and students of early Christianity and ancient Judaism such documents may be difficult of access and interpretation. But they offer fresh insight into the cultural setting of the literary sources. In every case the ancient text is reproduced here. A parallel English translation is provided by each contributor, along with full discussion. From 1981 a first set of five volumes of New Docs was edited by G.H.R. Horsley, with special attention to word usage. Volume 10 completes a second set of five edited by S.R. Llewelyn, focussing on major social institutions of the time. A comprehensive series of indexes for vols 6-10 as a set opens up a cumulative perspective on many topics. Notable entries in Volume 10 include: Artemis triumphs over a sorcererHow to celebrate Hadrian's accessionThe customs law of AsiaRepairing the baths at ColossaeThe Babatha archive and Roman lawThe Temple warning against Gentiles
The Spitfire began as a near disaster. The developments of this famous aircraft took it from uncompromising beginnings to become the legendary last memorial to a great man - an elegant and, with its pilots, a highly effective, weapon of war. The Spitfire would not have happened at all, however, without Mitchell's indomitable courage and determination in the face of severe physical and psychological adversity resulting from cancer. His contribution to the Battle of Britain, and thereafter to the achievement of final victory in 1945, was so great that our debt to him can never be repaid. This poignant story is written from a uniquely personal viewpoint by his son, Gordon Mitchell.

The book provides a critical and constructive assessment of the many contributions to social science and politics made by Professor R. J. Rummel. Rummel was a prolific writer and an important teacher and mentor to a number of people who in turn have made their mark on the profession. His work has always been controversial. But after the end of the Cold War, his views on genocide and the democratic peace in particular have gained wide recognition in the profession. He was also a pioneer in the use of statistical methods in international relations. His work in not easily classified in the traditional categories of international relations research (realism, idealism, and constructivism). He was by no means a pacifist and his views on the US-Soviet arms race led him to be classified as a hawk. But his work on the democratic peace has become extremely influential among liberal IR scholars and peace researchers. Above all, he was a libertarian. What if Romeo and Juliet got a second chance? "R & J & Z" begins with Act V of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet and keeps going, as the famous lovers navigate a world in which death isn't necessarily the end. Set against the historical backdrop of Verona's plague, Melody Bates' new verse play throws old and new characters together over the course of an apocalyptic and action-packed 24 hours. Equally inspired by Shakespeare and modern zombie films, "R & J & Z" pushes the boundaries of theatrical humor and horror.Cast Size: Diverse Cast of 15-19"Honestly, I couldn't keep up a body count. Boisterous and splendid... makes good on that whole immortal love story thing." - The New York Times"From the last line of Shakespeare's text (which is interrupted by a zombie attack) the humor and humanity shine through. The story of two lovers who were too good for this world changes into a call to bring love into this world." - NY Theatre Now"R & J & Z exceeds all expectations... Shakespeare is not spinning in his grave, but perhaps he will rise from it just to see this delightful, theatrical gorefest." - New York Theatre Review

Poignant, multilayered portraits of America’s future farmers A new book by award-winning Minneapolis-based photographer R.J. Kern (born 1978), The Unchosen Ones features portraits of future farmers in America’s heartland. Kern’s subjects are Minnesota 4-H members posing with their farm animals. Each one spent a year raising an animal, which they then entered into a 4-H competition. Kern first photographed them in 2016, and none of the children who sat for him succeeded in winning an award, despite the obvious care they had given to their animals. The formal qualities of Kern’s lighting and setting endow these young people with a gravitas beyond their years, revealing self-directed dedication in some, and in others, perhaps, the pressures of traditions imposed upon them. These beautiful portraits capture a certain America, a rural world and a time in life when the layered emotions of youth are laid bare. Four years later, in 2020, Kern returned to photograph and interview his young subjects. The new images are poignant when juxtaposed with the originals, tapping into the mindset of America’s agricultural youth. The diptychs of the children are punctuated by lush landscapes of the farms where these children have grown up. As he took the second group of photographs, Kern inquired about what his young subjects had carried forward from their previous experience. What were their thoughts, their advice, their dreams and their goals for the future? How do they fit in future agricultural America?
