So u erte sich Albert Camus 1951 ber "Der Schmerz", jenen Roman, der ihn nach eigener Aussage selbst zum Schriftsteller werden lie . Wer war dieser Autor, dessen Buch Camus so beeindruckte? Was zeichnet sein literarisches Werk aus und wie wurde es von der ffentlichkeit und der Kritik aufgenommen? Andr de Richaud war ein franz sischer Schriftsteller, Dramatiker und Poet des fr hen 20. Jahrhunderts. Diese Arbeit ist eine Einf hrung in Richauds Werk als Romancier. Seine Romane werden in ihren literarischen und historischen Kontext eingeordnet, verschiedene Interpretationsans tze und stilistische Charakterisierungen sollen das literaturwissenschaftliche Interesse an diesem verkannten Autor wecken. Konkret werden folgende Aspekte von Andr de Richauds Romanen untersucht: Im ersten Teil wird die These aufgestellt, dass Richauds Romane in der Tradition des Gesellschaftsromans stehen. Hierzu werden in vergleichenden Lekt ren einige Charakteristika der Romane herausgearbeitet, die f r die Zugeh rigkeit zu dieser literarischen Gattung sprechen. Im zweiten Teil werden Richauds Romane im Zusammenhang mit dem Existenzialismus betrachtet. Hier wird argumentiert, dass Richaud einerseits als Vorreiter des Existenzialismus betrachtet werden kann und dass, anderseits, seine sp teren Romane von der Literatur und Philosophie des Existenzialismus beeinflusst wurden. Der dritte und vierte Teil sind Richauds wichtigstem Werk, dem Roman "La douleur" ("Der Schmerz") gewidmet. In Teil drei geht es um die Rezeption des Romans bei seinem Erscheinen im Jahr 1931. Anhand der zahlreichen in der Presse erschienen Rezensionen wird der Frage nachgegangen, was 1931 an La douleur als skandal s wahrgenommen wurde.
