This book is written for children to read with their parents. It is about the 'life' cycle of a virus called Ezzy. Humans are always exposed to viruses, from the common cold to more deadly influenza and coronaviruses which can be a threat to health and life. In this book I try to explain the biology of viruses both in a fun way for children, and also in a more scientific way for adults. On each page I provide a simple version of viral behaviour and there is an appendix at the end of the book which provides scientific detail, and references where you can find further information. Viruses are unusual 'living' things and extremely interesting (to scientists), but need to be understood in their behaviour to prevent their harmful effects.

This book is written for children to read with their parents. It is about the life of a bacterium called Edward. This is the second of my 'science books for children'. In the first book about the adventures of a virus called Ezzy, the life cycle of viruses is explained and their impact on humans. This book attempts to help parents explain bacteria to children. Bacteria, like viruses, are harmful and can cause disease and sometimes death. Like viruses they are very small, and not visible to the naked eye. Unlike viruses, they can also have some benefits in the decomposition of waste and protective effects lining the gut. Some information about bacteria is provided throughout the book and in an appendix at the end there is information about where to find further information. I hope you enjoy reading this book. Rachel

Torn from her mother soon after she was born, lost to a world of deprivation and poverty, she grew up hard and fast, using any means necessary to escape from her broken childhood. Rachel became a product of her environment: a tenacious, spirited, forthright young woman with a sharp mind and a mission to accomplish. Armed only with a faded photograph, she embarks on a quest to reunite herself with her mother and leave the world of prostitution behind her once and for all. When she discovers there is more to her family than expected, Rachel is dragged back into a world of drugs, crime and murder. Although not unfamiliar with the criminal underworld, it's a place to which she would rather not return. Unfortunately for Rachel, she's in it up to her neck. Contains Adult content

Rachel's journey from Chipola Roads, the rural community in northwest Florida where she was born in the mid-ninteen-twenties, was so much further than the few miles it took to arrive in the small town where the highschool was located Her naC/ve approach to life was a result of her plain-spoken, down to earth poor farm family's upbringing, where life's rules came mostly from their understanding of the Good Book as handed down to them.

Dear Journal, Up until the age of thirteen, my best friend/ longtime secret love interest, Carter, and I would celebrate our birthdays together This is due to the fact that he and I share the same birthday Why did the joint celebration stop at thirteen, you ask? That summer was the summer that I moved to Los Angeles to live with my amazing and favorite Aunt Sara, and start filming my new TV show. Even though we would call or facetime each other(we do this daily), and wish each other a happy birthday, and mail each other birthday gifts, it was not the same as being together on our birthdays. Unbeknownst to Carter, and our good friends, I am flying home to Phoenix, AZ to surprise him at his birthday party tonight(Due to the fact that I want to look my best, I went to my usual hair and nails spa yesterday, and got a mani/ pedi, as well as my hair trimmed and cleaned up yesterday) Even though I am only able to be here for the day, and fly back tonight, it is completely worth it -Rachel XOXO

Times change, children grow up, old ways disappear, and new ways take their place. The story of RACHEL shows the passing of the years and the changes in the lives of the Collier family, the town they live in, and across the entire United States in the early 1900s. As Rachel becomes the new teacher in the Mercerville School, the quiet days that followed her going to college give way to the violence of World War I. In this sequel to A Sign of the Times, the teaching of history through literature helps students re-live the years leading up to the First World War, when the weapons and war machines that were built showed the world the power and terror the Industrial Revolution had created. When Rachel gets marries and starts a family, she believes that her life is complete. Her husband is sent away to the "Great War" in Europe and her life, and the lives of millions on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean, becomes a test to see if she can survive in the new world alongside machines that could travel long distances in a short amount of time, communicate with people in other parts of the world, and even fly.
