This book observes and analyzes the communication patterns of Latino students in an English course at the college level, closely observing the interaction between Latino students and the teacher, as well as between Latino students and other student groups in the class. Learning to Write as a Hostile Act for Latino Students concludes that cultural differences - and the resulting miscommunications - significantly contribute to the negative impressions Latino students have about the writing process and English courses. In this paper, the authors study matrix functions of bounded type from the viewpoint of describing an interplay between function theory and operator theory. They first establish a criterion on the coprime-ness of two singular inner functions and obtain several properties of the Douglas-Shapiro-Shields factorizations of matrix functions of bounded type. They propose a new notion of tensored-scalar singularity, and then answer questions on Hankel operators with matrix-valued bounded type symbols. They also examine an interpolation problem related to a certain functional equation on matrix functions of bounded type; this can be seen as an extension of the classical Hermite-Fejer Interpolation Problem for matrix rational functions.The authors then extend the $H^\infty$-functional calculus to an $\overline{H^\infty}+H^\infty$-functional calculus for the compressions of the shift. Next, the authors consider the subnormality of Toeplitz operators with matrix-valued bounded type symbols and, in particular, the matrix-valued version of Halmos's Problem 5 and then establish a matrix-valued version of Abrahamse's Theorem. They also solve a subnormal Toeplitz completion problem of $2\times 2$ partial block Toeplitz matrices. Further, they establish a characterization of hyponormal Toeplitz pairs with matrix-valued bounded type symbols and then derive rank formulae for the self-commutators of hyponormal Toeplitz pairs.

Focusing on the example of Latin American liberation theology and the work of Peruvian theologian Gustavo Gutiérrez, Zegarra shows how liberation theology advocates have been able to produce a new balance between faith and politics that advances an agenda of progressive social change without reducing politics to faith or faith to politics. Drawing from theologian David Tracy's method of critical correlation, the book focuses on key historical, philosophical, and theological shifts that have allowed liberation theologians to produce a new interpretation of the relationship between faith and politics in the Christian tradition, especially when issues of social justice are at stake. The book further approaches liberation theology's contributions to theorizing social justice through an unconventional path: a critical dialogue with the work of philosopher John Rawls. Ra l Eduardo Chao received his doctorate from Johns Hopkins University and, after a brief stint in the industry, he spent 18 years in the academic world as Full Professor and Director of the Departments of Chemical Engineering at the Universities of Puerto Rico and Detroit. In 1986, he founded The Systema Group and as president of that consulting company he has written half a dozen books on science and business administration, numerous articles and a score of books on the History of Cuba. He and his wife, Olga, live in Lakeland, Florida. Upon hearing of the October 10, 1868 uprising, M ximo G mez presented himself at the Cuban camps as a soldier, without mentioning his military knowledge. In just a few weeks he was awarded the rank of Sergeant and at the end of the war of 1895 he was identified as one of the most capable leaders of the Cuban Liberation Army. The Spaniards themselves recognized him as ..". the greatest guerrilla fighter in America."
