Mike Speed was no ordinary boy. He had a talent. He was fast. Very fast. But even that might not be enough for him to pass the gruelling tasks in his first year at Wimford Academy, the finest hero school in the land. His new friends in Bronze Dormitory had special gifts too, although some of these did not appear to be very useful, it has to be said. When would you actually need a slow motion man to help you? Or a girl who turned to rust in the rain? And together, would they be able to stop Vaughn, the tiny little megalomaniac who wants to RULE THE WORLD! The first of the Mike Speed adventures begins here.

Richard Bennett (1899–1971) was a nationally known printmaker, painter, and illustrator, born in Ireland but raised in Washington State. He later divided his time between New York City and Seattle. A leading children's book author and illustrator, he received national recognition for his woodblock prints and engravings. He was part of the inner circle of leading Northwest artists including Mark Tobey, Morris Graves, Kenneth Callahan, and Guy Anderson. In New York he became close to a group of artists and scholars that included the Abstract Expressionist Theodoros Stamos, etcher Thomas Handforth, and the scholar Edmond Tolk.Among the many children's books he illustrated are the Paul Bunyon stories, Treasure Island, and Betty MacDonald's The Egg and I and Mrs. Piggle Wiggle. David Martin places Bennett's work in the context of major American printmakers and illustrators and the changes in book production inspired by the Arts and Crafts Movement.
Introduction to Religion: A Customized version of An Exploration of World Religions by Robert Y. Owusu and Richard Bennett, Designed Specifically for Robert Y. Owusu at Kennesaw State University
Introduction to Religion provides a study that draws from diverse academic and disciplinary approaches to understand, appreciate, compare, and contrast the conceptual and experiential dimensions of religion that give meaning and purpose to adherents. It points out key elements of the religions of the world which provide practical demonstration of religious discourse described in the early chapters of the book. After all, the texts and most of the religious languages and rituals are theirs and to study these religions under the title Introduction to Religion is not out-of-place. The book also examines from a general standpoint the new religions often referred to as New Religious Movements or the New Age Movements that have emerged in the last 100 years. Contrary to the predictions and expectations of religious decriers that religion would vanish from our modern or postmodern society as a result of high class scientific and technological advancement, the world's religious landscape is animated with all sorts of religions and spirituality. Based upon the view that religion is not dead but has taken a new dimension in contemporary society, this book offers interesting perspectives on the complexity and diversity of religion in the twenty-first century. This book is useful not only to introduction to religion course but also other courses in religious studies and comparative religion. It takes keen interest in indigenous or primal religions and discusses models of sacred ritual and their relationship to the Sacred or Deity. Views and testimonies from practicing believers are incorporated into the narrative making it quite intriguing. This is where scholarship and practice coalesce. Chapters 1-3 examines the way scholarship has engaged religion as an academic study. Students who are interested in religious studies as a scholarly adventure will find this valuable. Students who want to know some details about some specific religions of the world will also find the book very engaging as chapters 4-11 seek to do that. Chapter 4 explores indigenous religious traditions such as Native American religions, African primal religions, and Japanese Shinto religion. These religions have served as the bedrock of the modern religions. Chapters 5 to 11 focus on Dharmic religions and Abrahamic religions. The final chapter examines the nature of the nonconventional religions of the last 100 years, technically called New Religious Movement or The New Age spirituality. From my teaching experience I find students attracted to this movement even more than to the normative or conventional religions. Introduction to Religion is readable, scholarly, and practical. It is interspersed with relevant pictures, images and personal stories that will make the curious student start reading. Each section has questions for further study as well as concepts and terminologies to broaden understanding. The simplicity and systematic structure of the text makes it distinct

Inside Improvisation explains how improv comedy works inside our brain and body, and how many of the concepts we take for granted in improv have a scientific basis. As improvisors, once we know the science behind something, we can find better ways to improve. For example, the concept of group mind is real and is caused by brain effects that can be studied and controlled, and is explained in detail in Inside Improvisation. Referencing modern scientific theory and 100+ research papers, Inside Improvisation uses the science behind improv, to explain how it works and how to become a much better improvisor.Using science and improv theory, Inside Improvisation also explains for the first time ever, the differences between Chicago method long form improv and Harold, and Keith Johnstone's impro and Theatresports. This includes how and why they are different from both a theoretical and scientific point of view, how to identify them in practice, why they don't work well together, and how to improve in each.Inside Improvisation also includes a new history of improvisation that references key developments across different gurus, and the key science behind those developments.Topics include: how the brain works while improvising; presence and mindfulness; fear, anxiety and the freedom to succeed; leveraging the unconscious; group mind; how scenes actually work - metapragmatics and scene progression; why and how improvisation is funny; using alcohol, drugs and stimulants; acting and theatre theory applied to improvisation; and much much more.

Big Sam scoffed at the concept of "the West Ham way". He called the fans deluded. Along came Super Slaven Bilic to show everyone what it was. In Goodbye Upton Park, Hello Stratford, Richard Bennett charts the progress of the team game by game in the build-up and throughout the last remarkable season. Every match is covered as the author also reminisces about great games he has watched in the last 58 years, his favourite players and managers, the triumphs and disappointments. He adds his views on the controversial stadium move, match officials, video technology, media pundits, and other topical discussion points in the best Premier League competition in years. An excellent cup run, Premier League club records broken, no trophies, but the consolation of another European campaign in the first season at the new home. With the most attractive football seen in years the West Ham way was back.

Reading this book is assurance the decision was right. And let us not forget those Prosperity preachers who constantly ask for money. This book exposes them even to their very core beliefs which are shocking and unbelievable.

To understand the dangers imposed upon the world by Allah, Muhammad, and the "angel of light," you must look at Islam through the eyes of Christianity. Hal Lindsey, one of the true futurist preachers of our time, wrote in The Late Great Planet Earth that "there are only two sources of the supernatural: The God of the Bible (followed by Christians) and the god of this world (followed by Muslims) who is described as an 'angel of light'" (2 Corinthians 11:14). This is the angel that visited Muhammad and introduced Allah into the world. In the beginning, Muhammad thought he was possessed. He spent years convincing himself that he was not. Many, however, believe that what Muhammad suspected about demonic possession may be true. It took a great deal of persuasion by Muhammad's first wife, Khadija, to convince him that his encounter may have been divine as opposed to demonic in origin. She was instrumental in the birth of "the prophet" becoming a reality. Discover the evil of Islam and how we know that the apparition that spoke to Muhammad was likely an evil spirit in The Puppet Master of Islam.
