The Vatican City --- The smallest country in the world, home to the leader of the Catholic Church and the stronghold for most of the faithful; the habitat of a significant number of treasures that have aged to be almost untouchable; perhaps uniquely surreal; one of the most secure places in the world, until now... Robert Gallant, through tireless years of research and dialogues with the minds behind historical concepts in Rome, presents his latest thriller, Rob the Vatican --- a novel that morphs the Citt del Vaticano into the center of what could be the greatest heist in history. While this tiny state is known for being impervious, Gallant opens his readers' eyes into the possibility of the impossible --- a concept most often taught within the walls of this faithful religion.

MILAREPA: THREAT OR OPPORTUNITY BY ROBERT D. GILMANIn "Milarepa: Threat or Opportunity," Robert D. Gilman spins an intricate tale set in the enigmatic North Beach-a place where people who don't quite fit in find a peculiar kind of belonging. North Beach is a maze of sidewalks without sand, a landscape almost devoid of trees, yet it is as easy to get lost in as a dense forest. The narrative takes an unexpected turn with the reappearance of Milarepa, the great medieval Tibetan Buddhist saint, shortly after the 9/11 terrorist attack. This extraordinary event creates ripples in the world that reach into the heart of North Beach, intertwining the lives of the protagonist, Toni, and the narrator.Starting in the middle of things, Gilman moves back and forth in time, revealing how Toni died in the narrator's arms and how their tumultuous lives were inextricably linked. After her death, Toni wandered in the bardo of becoming until Milarepa transformed her into a dakini-a celestial being with a mission to save the people of North Beach.Central to the story is the Limbo Shift, an ethereal, after-hours shift at the Saloon founded by Bill Quack, a local bartender known for his boundless energy. After Bill's death, the shift is passed on to Toni, who, as a dakini, nurtures and expands it, creating waves of change throughout North Beach."Milarepa: Threat or Opportunity" is a captivating exploration of life's complexities and the profound connections that bind us, inviting readers to lose themselves in its hypnotic narrative waves.

Robert Garnier and the Themes of Political Tragedy in the Sixteenth Century
Robert Garnier (1545–1590) was an early writer of tragedies in French. He has suffered much from being compared with the great tragedians of the seventeenth century, being taken as a crude predecessor of their mature art. In this 1969 text Mrs Jondorf studies him as a sixteenth-century writer, attuned to the thought and art of his own time. In particular she is concerned with his extension of the Senecan tradition of tragedy, and his pre-occupations with political themes - especially civil war, the rebellious subject, the powers and obligations of the sovereign. These were forced upon him by the times in which he lived, and Mrs Jondorf shows how his views relate to those of the political theorists of his time.

Because of his lengthy screen resume that includes almost eighty appearances in such movies as Camille and Waterloo Bridge, as well as a marriage and divorce to actress Barbara Stanwyck, Robert Taylor was a central figure of Hollywood's classical era. Despite this, he can be regarded as a “lost” star, an interesting contradiction given the continued success he enjoyed during his lifetime. In Robert Taylor: Male Beauty, Masculinity, and Stardom in Hollywood, author Gillian Kelly investigates the initial construction and subsequent developments of Taylor's star persona across his thirty-five-year career. By examining concepts of male beauty, men as object of the erotic gaze, white American masculinity, and the unusual longevity of a career initially based on looks, Kelly highlights how gender, masculinity, and male stars and the ageing process affected Taylor's career. Placing Taylor within the histories of both Hollywood's classical era and mid-twentieth-century America, this study positions him firmly within the wider industrial, cultural, and socioeconomic contexts in which he worked.Kelly examines Taylor's film and television work as well as ephemeral material, such as fan magazines, to assess how his on- and off-screen personas were created and developed over time. Taking a mostly chronological approach, Kelly places Taylor's persona within specific historical moments in order to show the complex paradox of his image remaining consistently recognizable while also shifting seamlessly within the Hollywood industry. Furthermore, she explores Taylor's importance to Hollywood cinema by demonstrating how a star persona like his can “fit” so well, and for so long, that it almost becomes invisible and, eventually, almost forgotten.

Hungriga, drivna . Men lätt fånget, lätt förgånget.
