This is a collection of writings and is not a chronological offering, but an inspirational one.Serving Littleness was written on January 28, 2007 at a time when I was examining what we have been taught, both individually and as a nation, that it was appropriate, even necessary, to help the weak and needy. Anthology of Love is a collection of poems I wrote while spending a week in silence at a Vedanta Retreat in Marin County, California in 1985. This was a time of major transition and turned out to be the precursor to a dramatic focusing of my life purpose. The Voice Within is the earliest of the included writings in this volume, being written during a specific period of time between September 28 and October 12, 1980. These were my spiritual questions, directed to what some might call my Higher Self, and the answers I was aware of at that time. While I experience less separation between my self and my Self than I did at that time, this was a profound developing spiritual understanding. The Legend of Turtle Feather is a short piece I wrote on a 7 day Vision Quest in the mountains of Northern California in September of 2001. There were 10 of us gathered for the Vision Quest and, unknown to us at the time, we exited our ceremonial circle to go our separate ways at the exact time of the bombing of the first Tower in New York on "9/11". We knew nothing, consciously, about what had happened until we left the wilderness a week later and saw our first newspaper. The Fool's Journey was a piece I wrote in 1997 as I was exploring the relationship and progression of the major arcana cards in the Tarot. I have always appreciated the symbology of the Tarot, the I Ching and other "esoteric" games, which allows us to project our current condition or experience onto something seemingly external to us in order to come to a deeper understanding or our life. These writings serve as my reminders, and as my gift to you.
The Soul's Awakening: Truth for Insightful Transformation
Over the years I have become familiar with many different self-help, personal growth and spiritual development programs. My personal interest has always been to discover the underlying similarities in all of these approaches, with the belief that the highest truth will become more clearly known and understood by seeing where we all are joined, where we are One. It is at the level where we recognize our Oneness and Wholeness that I find my greatest peace. So it is for me with Symbology and Spiritual Numerology. There is a very basic level at which all of the apparently divergent or differing systems, programs and interpretations are in agreement. This represents a high level of truth from which all of the various systems have evolved to serve the specific needs and desires of the groups or individuals involved in their formulation. What I have attempted to present here is a personal workbook designed to share with you what I consider to be the highest and best from all of the various systems I have come in contact with. It is designed to be as free from "interpretation" as possible to allow you the greatest possible freedom to discover your own highest truth. From your own personal experiences and deep inner knowing you will bring to this work precisely the meaning which will have the greatest significance to you as you travel along your path.

During his lifetime, priest-poet Gerard Manley Hopkins appeared to be a failure. His daring conversion to Catholicism and entry into the Society of Jesus in Victorian England alienated him from friends and family and dashed his chances for the brilliant academic career that would have been his. Because he championed the theology of Duns Scotus over that of Thomas Aquinas, he “failed” his final theology exams and never achieved the top rank of professed Jesuit father. As for his poetry, even his best friends didn’t understand it, and he met with consistent lack of success in getting it published. Today Hopkins is regarded as one of the greatest poets in the English language as readers have come to understand and love his provocative, challenging verse with its startling vocabulary and unusual rhythms. He is also a standard-setter for those looking to espouse a Christ-centered ecology. In Walking with Gerard Manley Hopkins Robert Waldron takes us on a psychological and spiritual journey with this remarkable poet and priest. Hopkins’ self-imposed repression of his enjoyment of beauty and of his creativity, his frustration at his seeming inability to accomplish anything worthwhile, his unwavering devotion to Jesus, his depression and its influence on the “Terrible Sonnets”—Waldron offers a probing exploration of them all. To longtime Hopkins aficionados as well as newcomers to Hopkins’ life and work, Waldron is unfailingly a sensitive and sympathetic guide. †
Francis of Assisi, Messenger for Today's World
Robert Waldron's new book serves as an introduction to the life of the world's favorite saint. The author explores Francis from three perspectives: biographical, psychological and aesthetic. His book is innovative because he understands Francis through our new science of psychology and through the beauty of Bellini's masterpiece St. Francis in the Desert, the painting shown on the cover of the book. For a psychological understanding Waldron employes Carl Jung's theory of individuation: the steps taken by Francis to become his True Self. Waldron also employs Bellini's painting to shed light on St. Francis the mystic, he who was gifted by God with the Stigmata. Waldron also addresses Francis's poem The Canticle of the Creatures, offering an exegesis of the poem that also provides insights into the saint's life as Christian and as a mystic. Waldron's book provides a Study Guide that encourages the reader to go more deeply into understanding Francis's life.

Not so much a discovery as a re-discovery, Robert Walton’s new book of poems, Sax Burglar Blues, is his first full collection since winning a Welsh Arts Council Prize in the 70s. After a working life as a teacher, Walton has resurrected his artistic gifts, and years of experience give his work both a spiky mien and an artful complexity.Packed with memory, incident, observation, opinion, humour, outrage and elegy, this collection benefits hugely from the author’s years of experience. Subjects include: woodlice, jazz, teachers, grandparents, a canary who runs for President, Sisley’s lovely painting of the Gower, the iconoclastic poet John Tripp, a night bus named after Dusty Springfield, the beauty of an Ash tree in spring, a Dad who loves Cardiff City, the austere beauty of a Bristol church, the annoying closure of bookshops and much more!

The Good Life: Lessons from the World's Longest Scientific Study of Happiness
A New York Times Bestseller What makes for a happy life, a fulfilling life? A good life? In their "captivating" (The Wall Street Journal) book, the directors of the Harvard Study of Adult Development, the longest scientific study of happiness ever conducted, show that the answer to these questions may be closer than you realize. What makes a life fulfilling and meaningful? The simple but surprising answer is: relationships. The stronger our relationships, the more likely we are to live happy, satisfying, and healthier lives. In fact, the Harvard Study of Adult Development reveals that the strength of our connections with others can predict the health of both our bodies and our brains as we go through life. The invaluable insights in this book emerge from the revealing personal stories of hundreds of participants in the Harvard Study as they were followed year after year for their entire adult lives, and this wisdom was bolstered by research findings from many other studies. Relationships in all their forms--friendships, romantic partnerships, families, coworkers, tennis partners, book club members, Bible study groups--all contribute to a happier, healthier life. And as The Good Life shows us, it's never too late to strengthen the relationships you already have, and never too late to build new ones. The Good Life provides examples of how to do this. Dr. Waldinger's TED Talk about the Harvard Study, "What Makes a Good Life," has been viewed more than 42 million times and is one of the ten most-watched TED talks ever. The Good Life has been praised by bestselling authors Jay Shetty "an empowering quest towards our greatest need: meaningful human connection"), Angela Duckworth ("In a crowded field of life advice...Schulz and Waldinger stand apart"), and happiness expert Laurie Santos ("Waldinger and Schulz are world experts on the counterintuitive things that make life meaningful"). With "insightful and] interesting" (Daniel Gilbert, New York Times bestselling author of Stumbling on Happiness) life stories, The Good Life shows us how we can make our lives happier and more meaningful through our connections to others.
