"My world seems upside down. I have grown up but I feel like I'm moving backward. And I can't do anything about it." (Esperanza). Over two million of the nation's eleven million undocumented immigrants have lived in the United States since childhood. Due to a broken immigration system, they grow up to uncertain futures. In Lives in Limbo, Roberto G. Gonzales introduces us to two groups: the college-goers, like Ricardo, who had good grades and a strong network of community support that propelled him to college and Dream Act organizing but still landed in a factory job a few short years after graduation, and the early-exiters, like Gabriel, who failed to make meaningful connections in high school and started navigating dead-end jobs, immigration checkpoints, and a world narrowly circumscribed by legal limitations. This vivid ethnography explores why highly educated undocumented youth share similar work and life outcomes with their less-educated peers, despite the fact that higher education is touted as the path to integration and success in America. Mining the results of an extraordinary twelve-year study that followed 150 undocumented young adults in Los Angeles, Lives in Limbo exposes the failures of a system that integrates children into K-12 schools but ultimately denies them the rewards of their labor.

"Millions of Americans have lost their homes since the start of the recession initiated by the financial crisis of 2008–09. But is the dream of homeownership for America's working families obsolete, an aspiration from a bygone era? Regaining the Dream rejects that notion and proposes a way to strengthen the financial system while simultaneously promoting an equitable and viable American homeownership policy. For the first time, the authors of Regaining the Dream offer data-driven evidence on how the mortgage industry can serve working families in the United States, pointing the way to a pragmatic housing policy that promotes the opportunity for sustainable homeownership.Taking the reader step by step through the lending crisis and what caused it, the authors include useful and clear definitions of terms heard almost daily in news coverage. And they give a fair account of the history behind Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and the new Dodd-Frank law, explaining what remains to be done to uphold one of the defining characteristics of the American dream."

When Italian citizen Roberto G. Ferrari embarked on a journey to adopt a young Chinese boy, the twenty-five days the adoptive father spent there offered him a rare insider's vantage of the famously closed country during an intensely intimate time for his family. To process the experience, the adoptive father chronicled those days in China, exploring the country through the deeply personal lens of his son's connection to his homeland. Ferrari also took in China from the perspective of a Westerner attempting to make sense of this burgeoning global power. Both reflective and informative, Ferrari's detailed account of the adoption process takes in modern China as it increasingly opens its doors to the Western world. In doing so, Away from China offers invaluable practical guidance on the international adoption process, as well as the author's insight on key locales in the country from the point of view of a seasoned traveler. From the monuments of Taiyuan to Tienanmen Square, Away from China considers this fascinating, rapidly changing nation for an adoptive father and his Chinese son.

In The Calling of the Miracle Weaver, the first novel in the Miracle Weaver Saga, we meet a young Gabriel Infante being ordained as a Catholic priest in the city of San Antonio, Texas. From the start of his new career Gabriel learns that God has some extraordinary plans for his life: he heals the ordaining archbishop of his Parkinson's disease. The news of a newly appointed mystic spread quickly in the spiritual underground where Satan and his hordes of demons normally work in the expansion of the culture of death. The Prince of Darkness assigns five of his demons to stalk the young presbyter and do all in their power to get him to quit his ministry. The forces of evil meet their match in the valiant cleric who engages all their challenges as he learns about his mystical gifts. While many people are delighted to witness the signs and wonders God works through the cleric, some are suspicious of him and wish to unmask him as a fraud. Father Gabriel is an attractive man with a sense of humor, good rhythm on the dance floor, a great singing voice, the strength of "an ox" and a devastating punch in the boxing ring, so a number of beautiful women get overly attracted to his charismatic personality. This creates a scandalous situation that places the Miracle Weaver in trouble with the Church Authorities within his first year of ministry.

Now that he is back in San Antonio, the Miracle Weaver must continue his never-ending battles against the netherworld, still bound on causing him harm and trying to get him to resign his ministry. Undocumented migration is a global and yet elusive phenomenon. Despite contemporary efforts to patrol national borders and mass deportation programs, it remains firmly placed at the top of the political agenda in many countries where it receives hostile media coverage and generates fierce debate. However, as this much-needed book makes clear, unauthorized movement should not be confused or crudely assimilated with the social reality of growing numbers of large, settled populations lacking full citizenship and experiencing precarious lives. From the journeys migrants take to the lives they seek on arrival and beyond, Undocumented Migration provides a comparative view of how this phenomenon plays out, looking in particular at the United States and Europe. Drawing on their extensive expertise, the authors breathe life into the various issues and debates surrounding migration, including the experiences and voices of migrants themselves, to offer a critical analysis of a hidden and too often misrepresented population.

In this story we can see the friendly Miracle Weaver acting as a good parish priest in his community, preaching, baptizing, marrying, visiting the sick, burying some of the dead, reviving others, converting sinners, expelling demons, counseling his flock and his friends. At the same time that the happy mystic performs his ordinary and extraordinary ecclesiastical duties, he must use his fists in order to defend his people against violent foes as well as to teach a lesson in humility to an arrogant professional fighter. Afterwards, we accompany him and his two 'archangel' companions during a short vacation in Cozumel, where temptations, excitement, and adventures enveloped them in the Mexican Caribbean.
