Mithilfe einer deutsch-französischen Analyse bietet er eine Anpassung der Auslegung der höheren Gewalt für die autonome Schifffahrt an. De lege ferenda schlägt er eine neue objektive Haftung infolge einer Schiffskollision vor und untersucht die Gestaltung der höheren Gewalt in dieser neuen Haftung. Die vorgeschlagene Haftung findet ihre Grundlage in den rechtshistorischen Wurzeln des Seehandelsrechts (z.B. der Hanse) und ist durch ihre deutsch-französisch geprägte Ausgestaltung für eine internationale Harmonisierung geeignet.
