The Bible tells us that before the foundations of the earth, the Lord knew us. He knew everything about us, even before we were formed in our mothers' wombs. And he has even counted every hair on our heads! Yet many of us forget that we have his divine finger upon our spirits, and sometimes when things go God's way instead of our own way, we can feel impatient or abandoned. In this book, author Shamonda Dunton shares the real-life journey of her and her husband's experience with doubt, struggles, and disappointments in the midst of their desires to have a child and start a family. Yet this devoted couple was able to face the challenge of faith and find strength while waiting on the promises of God to manifest themselves, even when years of waiting didn't turn out as expected. But they learned from the experience and now share with fellow believers that everything is according to God's time and will-it just takes patience and the imagination to recognize and accept God's blessings when they come.

"We should ALL read this book " - Online ReviewA memoir of unrelenting candor and lucid recollections of sexual assault, domestic violence, and depression, Nevertheless: Peace In Spite Of Pain is a story about a young girl, abused, neglected and destined to repeat the generational curses her mother endured, struggling to find love and acceptance from her mom, from strangers and lastly from her Savior Jesus Christ. Debut author Sharonda Jones shares her through-story of growing up in what she considered an idyllic setting, only to realize her recall was not the reality her mother lived. Hidden from Sharonda was her mother's abuse and abandonment, caused by the grief of losing two infant children and the stress of raising a daughter, while enduring the abuse of her live-in boyfriend. Sharonda's mom plans an escape in the dark of night and their lives become a painful journey of never enough, moving from town to town, living in destitute conditions, and looking for peace and security from people who only mean to hurt and manipulate. Despite obstacles of abandonment and homelessness as a teenager, Sharonda graduates as the valedictorian of her high school class and receives the offer of a full scholarship to George Washington University. Surprisingly, even after acquiring a Bachelor of Architecture degree with honors from the University of the District of Columbia as a single mother, Sharonda continues to struggle with self-acceptance and, after numerous failed relationships destroy her confidence and self-worth, she marries an incarcerated man facing life in prison. He accepts a plea that would grant them new identities through the witness protection program and she thinks this will be the start of a wonderful new life for her, her son, and her new husband. Instead, it was now a reimaged version of the life her mother tried to escape. Remarkably Sharonda is able find the silver lining on the collection of dark clouds that overshadow her life, exposing her weaknesses and insecurities to allow God's grace and love to redeem and restore her. Nevertheless: Peace In Spite of Pain is a tremendous tale of finding solace in the faith of Christianity. As a tribute to the people God placed in her life to help her overcome, she recounts, with humbling gratitude, those moments she believes should have destroyed her and the love that continues to give her strength. It is a powerful testimony for all looking to be encouraged and inspired, proving to the world what God can do for one, He can do for all who believe.

No Longer Hostage, the newest inspirational through-story by Sharonda Jones, author of Nevertheless: Peace In Spite Of Pain, takes readers on a journey that will challenge the meaning of love and forgiveness. Sharonda navigates the end of her 12-year marriage and is forced to address issues of co-dependency from her childhood and previous relationships. Her first marriage sent her into the Department of Justice's witness security program, the second one was bound to send her into a downward spiral of depression. Learning from her mistakes, Sharonda makes therapy a priority. With counseling for herself and her children, she journeys through the stages of grief and acknowledges how the issues of her past not only worked against her in marriage but also in parenting. In letting go of what she fears losing the most: her family, Sharonda receives her greatest dream come true; she is united with her father after 45 years. Overcome emotionally to finally have the chance to know him, Sharonda is surprised by a wall of rejection that causes her anxiety to go into overdrive. Standing on her faith, she declares she is no longer confined to the fear of falling short or the pain of another failed relationship, but will it be enough to endure this new wave of abandonment and rejection she endured as a child? Or will she remain a hostage to her fears and insecurities?

To unmask means that there must be something that is obstructing the view of a person's face. Once the mask is removed then others will be able to see what was beneath the thing all along. When it comes to us as individuals, we tend to wear all types of masks but yet we also want genuine relationships that are honest and that bear all. There has to come a day that we can be saved, love the LORD our God with all of our hearts, and yet find the voice to be honest. Truthfully, it's not as if we can hide from Him behind a mask anyway. He sees all. So, what if today was the day that we chose to be open and bear it all before Him in order to be free and happy once and for all.

At some point in everyone's life, they wonder why they are like they are. Some seek further to know; others continue to ponder. Chloe (the main character in the book) is a brilliant, adorable, mature seven-year-old, friendly and curious little girl who frequently hears she is so special. Chloe ponders all the time, "why do people say I am special?" Then, one beautiful, sunny day, as Chloe is walking and thinking, she encounters a kind, very wise woman who answers Chloe's frequently pondered question. It was truly an incredible, mouth-dropping, fulfilling moment for Chloe. I wrote, "Why I am like I am," to let people (young and old) know they are unique and they are special for a reason(a God-given assignment). My heart desires that Chloe's experience would launch you into a quest to know your special, God-given assignment.
