There are so many books and blogs and advice columns on how to lose weight. It is hard to live in this information-at-your-fingertips overloaded world and not feel confused by all the information out there. So many doctors and lay people telling us the right way to do things and the things we should never do, until another expert comes along to say that the wrong way was actually the right way all along. None of those people are trying to be harmful or negative. They just want to help with the knowledge they have obtained over the years. I am not going to tell you what to do or what is right and wrong. This book is simply my journey to becoming a healthier and happier person. It is about how I am overcoming my food addiction to make myself feel better and healthier and about my struggles to stay on that healthier path. I use "overcoming" instead of "overcame" because this is an ongoing, daily choice. My hope is that if you are unhappy with your weight and/or your health, something you read here will start you on your own journey to being happier and healthier. Because it only took one thing for me to change my mindset and start me down a healthier path.

This is the way of joy, let's go From the Introduction, "Whether you are a professing Christian, ex-Christian, a believer in another spiritual/religious tradition, "spiritual but not religious," agnostic, atheist, or "other," wherever this gospel finds you, please may I forewarn unless you have a completely open mind and heart there is a great likelihood that at least one of these chapters will spark judgment or dissent within you. That is, of course, unless you are already living as a saint, sage, bodhisattva, and/or guru. (If this is you, namaste with love.) For everyone else, when you recognize opposition within your mind, body, or heart, that is good. It means you are alive inside. (Whatever you do, don't go back to sleep.) I implore you to explore the deeper meaning found beneath the surface of any inner discord and lean on the guidance and support of mental and emotional health and spiritual ministry professionals for the greatest good. Having said that, if you are inspired and encouraged by this gospel with hope for the future, even better. Your heart is already prepared to spread the good news of joy by being the Good you want to see in the world. (Let your inner light shine in all you do.)" All are welcome @ www.ShannonofJoy.com.

When the pain of remaining the same became greater than the pain of change, Shannon realized that the first step to living the life she wanted, meant leaving the life she didn't want. The reality is, change is hard. Change is painful. More importantly, Change is key to succeeding as an individual and as a leader. The first changes have to come from within, and Shannon embraced modeling the changes she wished to see. She went from surviving each day to thriving by creating and living a dream lifestyle which she now wants to pass on to others by sharing her story with you in her book: Transformation...discover your own flight pattern. The profits from her book have enabled her to donate over 2200 copies to women's shelters and organizations in her community and all across North America. This was only the beginning; to really facilitate change, Shannon realized she needed to be building strong foundations in her community. Today, the Dare To Be You Foundation supports numerous local charities that focus on the key areas of Youth, Women and Families.
EXPOSED is a true modern day love story between God and a girl and the enemy who wants to tear them apart. Shannon Deitz spent nearly two decades of her life in the darkest valleys of self-destruction, believing she was unworthy of God's love. After witnessing as a child the sex and drug-induced downfall of her older sister, Shannon turned away from her Catholic faith and upbringing and found herself caught in a wild and carefree lifestyle. She drank, partied, and sought comfort in abusive relationships, only to be raped not once but twice by two different men. Years later, after an intense spiritual battle within, Shannon found herself at rock bottom, where she finally understood the truth that her life had never belonged to her. It had always belonged to God. Exposed: Inexcusable Me . . . Irreplaceable Him is one woman's courageous journey down the path of spiritual self-discovery. This book offers faith-based encouragement for teenagers and adults who have suffered physical or emotional abuse. Through the extremely personal, no-holds-barred account of one woman's journey down a self-destructive path, it addresses such issues as spiritual warfare, the need to be loved, and the need to relinquish control of one's self to God.

This book examines the reciprocity that exists between the body and the urban built environment. It will draw on archival and ethnographic research as well as an interdisciplinary literature on cultural materialism, semiotics, and aesthetics to challenge dualist interpretations of four different points of historical-material contact in Cape Town, South Africa. Each chapter attends to different groups, social practices, and historical periods, but all share the fundamental questions: how does material culture reflect the way social agents make meaning through bodily contact with urban built form, and how does such meaning challenge the ways bodies are objectified? Further, how can we make sense of the historical processes embedded in the objectification of bodies without treating the social and the material, the mental and the physical as separate realities?
