Two human couples strive for normalcy, but little do they know, their lives are not their own-well, not entirely. An assigned Cementaurian Life Guide has assumed the role of puppeteer and is manipulating the humans' most every move. Miurtiese has a motive in mentally forcing her actions upon the four individuals. She is leading a quest to ensure numerous planets do not fall into evil hands. To achieve victory, she has placed Lander Kahn, Dray Demong, Cally O'Brien, and Avria Rausch on a predetermined path heading straight into the quest's future phases. They have a life and death destiny to fulfill, and it is Miurtiese who will guide them through the trials they face. As in life, physical and emotional hazards trap the humans on a frequent basis. Because of these pitfalls, relationships will suffer. Friendships will undergo dangerous tests. Love will sprout anew, only to have it torn away by the one person most trusted. Since evil influences of the two-legged kind and otherwise surround the four, Miurtiese must intervene when expected, and remain silent when necessary. On a constant basis, she must deal with the illogical idiosyncrasy of a human's free will, but it is only a challenge for her, not a deterrent. Miurtiese must lead Lander, Dray, Cally, and Avria successfully...an entire solar system is depending on her, and on them.

On the far side of the universe lies the Roma Galaxy, wherein the Visolis Solar System boasts of a large human population on four out of the five rocky planets orbiting around its centered sun. The third planet from the sun known as Zarcon is the latest of the five to undergo the colonization process, which is not easy especially for two colony designers who strive to perform their duties. In relation to their investigation on Zarcon, Lander Kahn and Dray Demong make phenomenal discoveries of the tangible and emotional kind, finding exuberance with the first and falling victim to the second. Just when life is as perfect as it can get, two women enter their lives and change their way of thinking, feeling, and believing. When Dray finds himself deeply in love with one of the women, Lander makes every effort to be happy for his teammate, but the enthusiasm is greatly lacking. Knowing the reason for his dismay at Dray's good fortune, Lander tries to convince himself women in general are nothing but trouble, and there is absolutely zero room in his heart for the two most recent troublemakers. Neither man knows the real truth behind their unforeseen meeting of the women or the changes in their way of thinking. Their actions and behaviors are not coincidental. Someone who has remained hidden behind the scenes has planned every major event that occurs for Dray and Lander pertaining to the women. This unknown entity has a plan for these four humans, which involves a quest that has been in the making for centuries. Only time will tell what becomes of the chosen four as they travel along their predetermined path into the future.

Leaving behind his two best friends and the woman he loves, he bids farewell to his home on the scientific orbiter, the FPRD-Colossus, and travels over a million miles to Pilar where his mother and father still reside. There, Lander reconnects with his past; a past which will definitely change the way his future plays out. It seems an old friend has Lander in her sights, and with intent of destroying what he has with Dr. Cally O'Brien, she practices seduction with a twist in order to bring him down to her level of passion. Back on Zarcon, Cally returns to the mission without Lander who recently gave up his virginity to her, and as she does, she mourns their separation and must turn to her friends for comfort. Her friends, however, have relationship troubles of their own to content with.With the four in utter turmoil, their Life Guide, Miurtiese, must secretly intercede once again to save them from themselves. However, knowing humans possess free will, can she succeed? If so, what will the cost be this time?

Sidney diverted her heavy eyes away from the family portrait sitting atop her desk. The need for her was raw, tender, and insatiable. A blend of painful pleasure that soothed and tortured. I wanted to stop wanting her, but I found I could not. Sitting at my desk, I forced my eyes to stay on my computer screen and kept my fingers moving across the keyboard. I could almost feel the scrutiny of my husband peering out at me from the photo and searing into my soul. I kept working. Kept typing. Kept stalling. When Dayna finally arrived, the guilt and unease seemed to vanish. In seconds she was in my arms, my hands slipping beneath her shirt to nestle into the smooth skin at her sides. Her smell drew me in closer, the fragrance of her was intoxicating and I found my lips gently pressed against hers. She was all that mattered. Being with her was all that mattered. Those soft, painted lips and feminine curves calmed the tempest of anxiousness swirling about just moments before. Dayna was the quieting balm that soothed me. And yet, her presence was the embodiment of evil I'd been taught to eschew. She was a distraction. Pulling me away from my home, family, and the intimacy I was supposed to share with my husband. How could I possibly choose her? I would lose everything, my marriage, my family, my church and my God. I would lose the image of me; the smart, sensible, Christian woman raised on the sacrifices borne of my parents. Was there even a choice? This was ludicrous. An exercise in futility. I could never choose her. But, with the strength of this thing we were building, this insatiable need to be with her, the completeness I felt in her presence, how could I not?
