In Eurhythmics for Autism and Other Neurophysiologic Diagnoses, Dorita S. Berger reveals how Eurhythmics, a method of teaching the musical concepts of rhythm, structure and expression kinaesthetically through movement, can help develop sensorimotor skills in children and adults with autism and other special needs. Covering both theory and practice, she explains this innovative, music-based approach and how it can also address cognitive and sensory issues in adults with debilitating conditions, such as dementia or post-traumatic stress disorder. With a particular emphasis on autism, she provides clear and adaptable session plans, suitable for working with children and adults of all ages.
Change is inevitable, and it is coming to the modern world as it had for a thousand centuries. A mysterious force, hidden in the shadows of the cosmos, holds sway over the destiny of all living things, and the final chapter for mankind is about to be written. A superior species, borne of humans, is poised to assume dominion over the earth. Enter The Gene Trap. This manuscript is the second in a series of techno-thrillers by Dr. Stephen Berberich. Similar in story line to a Michael Crichton novel, the books plot depicts the struggle of contemporary man in his effort to avoid the inexorable consequences of evolution. As the story unfolds, John Lynch and his girlfriend, Gigi Thompson, are on their way to Pittsburgh to begin their new careersJohn as a medical intern and Gigi as geneticist at the prestigious Hawthorne Institute. Though they remain perplexed by the mysterious disappearance of their best friends, Peter Gault and Kate Donavon (main characters of Berberichs first novel, No Known Species), John and Gigi find themselves consumed by the rigors of their new positions. The last thing they need is to be caught in a titanic struggle for human survivala struggle that would pit them against Peters clan of mutants. Influenced by unexpected events, the couple is drawn into a sinister plot hatched by a worldwide cabal of intellectual elites who are determined to eliminate the gifted species. It is a move that could solidify mankinds rightful place of primacy. Though the elites scheme seems flawless, unforeseen mistakes begin to occur. A deadly synthetic germ is accidently released into the biosphere, creating a plague the likes of which the world has never known. Worse yet, a deadly trap lurks within secret recesses of the human genome. It is genetic time bomb that will be detonated if scientists attempt to tinker with the essence of mankinds DNA. The Gene Trap details the age-old struggle between the old and the new, with Gigi and John caught somewhere between the two worlds. The final act makes clear the meaning of the genesis cycle.

The Enlightenment Truth Came on Winds of a Raging Storm Think you know what's real. Read "The Enlightenment" and prepare to question everything. Jack Tessler was profoundly disillusioned when his mother told him Santa Claus was nothing but an urban myth. Yet unlike most children his age, Jack did not take the news lightly. His parents' fabrication created festering doubts that forced their son to question everything he blindly accepted on faith and his parents' trusted word. Thus, in time, Jack's mission was to understand the world around him through the prism of science and reason. The Journey BeginsIt's early Christmas morning, 2017. All air traffic has been suspended as a blizzard of enormous scale pummels the US. An alarm sounds in the Dulles air traffic control tower. A 1950's era prop-driven aircraft is on final approach, and it's one not seen aloft in four decades. Meanwhile Jack Tessler receives an urgent call from NSA director Alex Long. What the young physicist learns will radically alter his belief system and shake the very foundations of modern science. It seems the plane in question left Boston's Logan Airport early Christmas morning 1954. Tessler's journey of discovery will take him to a place no human has ever gone...it is the only place that's real. Stephen Berberich MD, FACC [email protected]

The Origin of Evil A group of well-intentioned geneticists in charge of the first designer baby project at a fertility clinic in Southern California were on the brink of an incredable discovery. Their arrogance ultimately led to a critical error in judgment. The dire consequences of that blunder wouldn't be evident for years to come. Unfortunately, by then it was too late. Vatican City-twenty years later Pope Peter II, the first American Pontiff, began having nightmares so vivid and realistic that on the last night of each month he was unable to sleep. The night frights were always the same. Horrific evil was spreading through population centers like an aggressive cancer. Worse yet, these nightmares had escaped the boundaries of the Pope's dreams and invaded reality. Father Kevin McCarthy, a noted American geneticist, was urgently summoned to Vatican City to investigate these strange happenings. What he and his colleague, Meighan Cole, found would join science and religion at the hip and then turn each discipline on its respective ear. They discovered that pure evil had its ancestral roots in human DNA and those individuals missing a prime gene and their names were replete in the annals of history. But what Kevin found while drilling even deeper into this matter was more alarming. This new and burgeoning generation of evil, led by Daman Leonard and his Master Plan, was not the product of classical evolution, but one created in a laboratory using a computer and a petri dish. This evil, if not confronted quickly, was destined to change the nature of man and turn the human race into an advanced species with no genetic soul.

Everyone in Sassafras County stays clear of the quarantined Crater Lake in fear of toxic coal spoils from the meteorite crash decades earlier. Everyone, that is, except two precocious teenage brothers who skip church one Sunday morning to try out their new rods and reels in the mysterious lake. They are amazed to land dozens of giant rainbow trout.Naturally, the state lifts the quarantine, recognizing a potential for tourist revenues. Along comes sleazy Vacation Inns and Resorts, Corp. to develop the lake, leading to a tacky town called Trout Heaven.Meanwhile across the valley, famous investigative reporter Henry Clyde Ford is frustrated with writing his memoirs in his log cabin retreat. His peace of mind and once pristine view are ruined by the new resort and town. Some excerpts: THE LOST MEMOIR: I stood up, walked around the cabin and saw nothing. I decided to go on with the plan. Well okay, so it's quiet; all the better. Here goes, I thought. But, at that very moment, as I placed my fingers back onto the keyboard ... THEY appeared I put down my coffee on my log table and watched in horror.THE FIRST GIANTS: But, I'm tellin' ya, Mr. Ford; those damn rainbow trout in that lake were bigger, much bigger ... and strong One took Johnny's bait, line and rig-reel and all, right outta his hands." THE ENCOUNTER: I could only focus on one thing at that moment as we entered the dim light of my cabin with its canvas-covered windows: I needed to touch her. I didn't know how. But, in some way, right then and no later, I needed to find out if she would respond. She had to come to me, I thought. THE UGLINESSIn my mind, at least, all the ugliness around bully Mays, plus Levine's drunken threats, employees disappearing, the execs suspicions of Tina, Bradley Armstrong's molesting her in the women's restroom, ... were adding up to stronger criminal indictments than the financial shenanigans of Vacation Inns and Resorts, Corp. And, now Sheriff Deed's assessment of Manny's murder ties in too THE CHASE: "I'm not going to hurt you O'Leary. Just want to know why you broke into headquarters. You have no right," Mays yelled." He was shaking his hands in front of him, maybe forgetting that he was wielding his favorite pearl-handle fishing knife. ... Tina tripped over a concrete parking bumper and tumbled to the asphalt. She looked back and was frozen by the sight of the huge blade.
