"A daring covert action by the CIA to hijack a Boeing 777 passenger plane carrying Russian and Chinese computer scientists to London from Bangkok. These scientists were collaborating on a project to develop a highly sensitive software that could hack computer systems in the USA and bring all activities under their control. As part of the operation, the entire plane with all the passengers, including the scientists, were hijacked and transported to an isolated island in the Indian Ocean, which was serving as a strategic naval base of the USA. Here the scientists were separated from the other passengers and sent to a secret location in the USA in different military aircrafts. The scientists were interrogated and coerced into working for the USA. They were given all facilities needed to develop the program and implement it on the computer systems in Moscow. A startling story of how the program, which was prepared to paralyze the American computer network, was used, instead, to cause a breakdown of the power system in Moscow. Meanwhile, all international efforts to track the Boeing 777 plane proved futile and it was believed to have crashed in the ocean leaving no survivors. The American government also joined the search effort, officially and offered condolences for the "death" of the passengers."
Of all challenges that dog human security the world over terrorism is perhaps the most pernicious. Spreading its toxic tentacles worldwide, the cumulative effect on overall lives of teeming masses especially in India`s South Asian neighbourhood is telling. In this book, Lt. Gen. Subroto Mitra, offers an incisive account of not only the origins of terrorism in this significant world region but also traces the journey each of the SAARC nations have traversed facing this menace. He observes the faultlines in each country`s reaction to terror taking root and entrenching itself. More importantly he examines recent developments to underline the debilitating effect the issue has had on the political, economic, social and even regional levels. He also makes country-wise recommendations to counter terrorism from a holistic point of view. Here, Gen. Mitra is certain that regional cooperative mechanisms be strengthened and new avenues for joint action, forged. The Lurking Hydra: South Asia`s Terror Travail puts forth a convincing argument for India alongwith its smaller neighbours to chart a future course that identifies the factors that have aided terrorism to take root as well as a range of options to successfully overcome this vexing obstacle. This follows his critical analysis of the detrimental impact terror activities have had on the region so far. A highly decorated soldier-scholar Lt. Gen. Subroto Mitra, with vast practical knowledge of serving in worst terror-affected areas of India offers a unique perspective in this book. His flair for history and his deep faith in the prospect of cooperation at the regional level to deliver a fitting reply to the recurring problem are showcased here.Rather than offering a military or strategic approach to dealing with terror his treatment of the issue from a holistic angle definitely adds value to the terrorism-related discourse especially on a geographical region that remains one of the worst affected ones.
How do you give your brand a competitive edge in a 'me-too' situation? How do you differentiate your brand and give it a distinctive identity? How, in short, do you secure competitive advantage for your brand? Especially in a 'mine-too' situation. The author answers all these questions and more, by discussing the concepts and principles involved in developing sound positioning strategy. He brings into focus its practice and applications with cases and examples from the Indian market. A large number of packaged goods, as well as some widely used durables such as two-wheelers, TV sets, etc. have been analysed. The second edition has new chapters on positioning of services and celebrity endorsements. Also new cases and examples have been included. With this coverage, the book will help markets and advertisers create sound positioning strategies for their brands.

Harmonic Modeling of Voltage Source Converters using Basic Numerical Methods One of the first books to bridge the gap between frequency domain and time-domain methods of steady-state modeling of power electronic converters Harmonic Modeling of Voltage Source Converters using Basic Numerical Methods presents detailed coverage of steady-state modeling of power electronic devices (PEDs). This authoritative resource describes both large-signal and small-signal modeling of power converters and how some of the simple and commonly used numerical methods can be applied for harmonic analysis and modeling of power converter systems. The book covers a variety of power converters including DC-DC converters, diode bridge rectifiers (AC-DC), and voltage source converters (DC-AC). The authors provide in-depth guidance on modeling and simulating power converter systems. Detailed chapters contain relevant theory, practical examples, clear illustrations, sample Python and MATLAB codes, and validation enabling readers to build their own harmonic models for various PEDs and integrate them with existing power flow programs such as OpenDss. This book: Presents comprehensive large-signal and small-signal harmonic modeling of voltage source converters with various topologiesDescribes how to use accurate steady-state models of PEDs to predict how device harmonics will interact with the rest of the power systemExplains the definitions of harmonics, power quality indices, and steady-state analysis of power systemsCovers generalized steady-state modeling techniques, and accelerated methods for closed-loop converters Shows how the presented models can be combined with neural networks for power system parameter estimations Harmonic Modeling of Voltage Source Converters using Basic Numerical Methods is an indispensable reference and guide for researchers and graduate students involved in power quality and harmonic analysis, power engineers working in the field of harmonic power flow, developers of power simulation software, and academics and power industry professionals wanting to learn about harmonic modeling on power converters.

Studies have reported that interactions between cytokeratins (KRTs) and other proteins initiate signaling cascades that regulate cancer properties. In this study, we found that KRT family genes were differentially expressed in various cancers and the expression of KRT19 was specifically high in breast cancers and significantly correlated with their invasiveness. Moreover, the knockdown of KRT19 (shKRT19) led to increased cancer properties in breast cancer cells via an upregulated NOTCH signaling pathway due to a reduced expression of NUMB, an inhibitory protein of the NOTCH pathway. Additionally, we found that KRT19 interacts with β-cat/RAC1 complex and enhances the nuclear translocation of β-cat. Concordantly, shKRT19 suppressed the nuclear translocation of β-cat as well as β-cat-mediated NUMB expression. Furthermore, modulation of KRT19-mediated regulation of NUMB and NOTCH1 expression led to the repression of the cancer stem cell properties of cancer stem-like cells (CSLCs) which showed very low KRT19 and high NOTCH1 expression. In sum, our study suggests a novel function for KRT19 in breast cancer, which might bear potential clinical implications for cancer or CSLC treatment.

Our research study was the first sincere attempt to understand the factors affecting physician's prescribing behaviour among respiratory physicians in a branded generic market like India. Our research proved that the physician's professional factors, product-related factors, and personality traits influence the physician's prescribing decision. The model is unique and highly relevant to chronic segments and the market is dominated by branded generics. Our Research has shown that Product Promotional factors could not reach a statistically significant level indicating the Brand Champions from the marketing team to have a critical review on the implementation and effectiveness of Marketing Mix components. we propose the adoption of Medico Marketing initiatives, which will serve the purpose of all the stakeholders like Physicians towards better disease management & improvement in the QoL of patients. This in turn will help the pharmaceutical companies towards bridging the gap and working together for better disease management from physicians' point of view, which in turn increases the possibilities of the promoted drug/product /brand being prescribed by the physician to the patients.
