It is one of only five known paintings by Bening intended for independent display. Combining art historical research and original technical analysis, this book offers the first dedicated, in-depth study of the Wyvern Collection triptych. It also marks a significant scholarly contribution as the first publication to consider these standalone paintings on parchment as a distinct object group, separate from manuscript illuminations.
