'Examining Billy Graham's Theology of Evangelism' was written to advance an unbiased understanding of Billy Graham's theology and practice. Theological examination of Graham's sermons revealed four distinct eras in his theology and practice: -The Early-Early Graham (pre-1949) -The Early Graham (1949-1955) -The Middle Graham (1955-1965) -The Later Graham (1965-present) In each of these eras Graham portrayed a discernible and distinct approach to defining evangelism, theological nomenclature, and cooperative strategy. No literature on Billy Graham discusses, in combination, this evolution in Graham's theology and practice. You are invited to take a fresh look at the teaching and practice of this man who has touched millions of lives through the proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Jesus told His disciples to "teach them to observe all that I have commanded you." In Matthew alone there are 256 imperatives from the lips of Jesus. The breadth and depth of Christ's imperatives are enormous-as are the many missional verbs in the Bible. An analysis of the five Great Commissions of Christ unlocks the key to becoming passionate about Jesus. In these pages, Johnston probes every stage in the Great Commission process, from the beginning of Christ's call to "Go " to the New Testament's 62 "One Another Commands." Plowing new ground in Great Commission studies, Johnston addresses evangelizing and working together with God, a hearing of faith and repentance, persuasion and confession, winning disciples and baptizing them, and teaching and building-all from the standpoint of New Testament Greek verbs.

Preceded by eleven historiographic charts, "Chronological Theology" addresses broad lines of theological innovation and heresy within Western Christianity. It originated with the chronological timelines as told by three noted Protestant scholars: -Johannes Sleidan, The Key of History or the Four Chief Monarchies (Strasbourg, 1556) -Jean de Hainault, State of the Church, with Discourses from the Time of the Apostles (Geneva, 1562) -Lorraine Boettner, Roman Catholicism (Philipsburg, NJ, 1962) Their lists of chronological developments are enlarged by primary and secondary source material, along with a biblical analysis of the developments as they takes place. The result is a linear documentary of the ebb and flow of theology over two millennia of Western Christianity.
Transforming Agrarian Economies

Transforming Agrarian Economies

The world's 58 poorest countries are diverse in many respects, but they share the characteristic of a labor force overwhelmingly dependent on agriculture. Challenging the assumption that mass poverty and chronic hunger are insoluble problems, this book systematically explores the multiple aspects of economic development in these countries, which are home to 60 percent of the world's population. The authors offer a broad-based development strategy to raise incomes through agricultural productivity growth and expanded rural employment. They present rich new information on the rural informal sector and on agriculture-industry interactions, and they analyze the impact of macroeconomic and social policies on the rural economy. Policy instruments aimed at bringing about broad-based development are carefully assessed from fiscal policy to development of hew seeds and farm implements. The book includes detailed case studies of countries that have seized—or missed—development opportunities. Comparison of the successful economic transformations of Japan and the United States shows how key ideas, which the authors call strategic notions, have enabled policymakers to act with foresight. Analyses of strategic choices in China, the Soviet Union, Taiwan, Mexico, Kenya, and Tanzania also show how development strategies that emerge from the real-world political economy reflect a mix of individual interests and strategic notions.

The Worth and Work of the Evangelist provides insights into the life and ministry of an evangelist. Fordham with over 35 years as a full-time evangelist and Johnston with over 30 years of teaching and leading evangelism have teamed up to introduce the major elements of the ministry of the God-called evangelist. This book is designed for the young evangelist to work through with his pastor, as well as for the seminarian who is considering his call as an evangelist. It will prove helpful to church members who are considering inviting an evangelist to preach a revival at their church. The Worth and Work was written to introduce and encourage evangelists in their ministry.

As the United States continues to withdraw troops from and prepares to leave Afghanistan, Afghanistan faces multifaceted and significant challenges of governance, economy, security, and regional dynamics. These are all occurring within the context of the potential for an expanded civil war when international forces leave the country. It is time to refocus from the conflict itself and ask hard, but realistic, strategic and policy questions as to the future of Afghanistan, and what role, if any, the United States should play in shaping that future.

A Sketch of the Revolutions in Chemistry. by Thomas P. Smith.
The 18th century was a wealth of knowledge, exploration and rapidly growing technology and expanding record-keeping made possible by advances in the printing press. In its determination to preserve the century of revolution, Gale initiated a revolution of its own: digitization of epic proportions to preserve these invaluable works in the largest archive of its kind. Now for the first time these high-quality digital copies of original 18th century manuscripts are available in print, making them highly accessible to libraries, undergraduate students, and independent scholars.Medical theory and practice of the 1700s developed rapidly, as is evidenced by the extensive collection, which includes descriptions of diseases, their conditions, and treatments. Books on science and technology, agriculture, military technology, natural philosophy, even cookbooks, are all contained here.++++The below data was compiled from various identification fields in the bibliographic record of this title.
