A Sermon Preached at Wisbech, Sunday, March 11. 1743. on the Present Posture of our Affairs, and the Intended Invasion. By Thomas Whiston,
The 18th century was a wealth of knowledge, exploration and rapidly growing technology and expanding record-keeping made possible by advances in the printing press. In its determination to preserve the century of revolution, Gale initiated a revolution of its own: digitization of epic proportions to preserve these invaluable works in the largest archive of its kind. Now for the first time these high-quality digital copies of original 18th century manuscripts are available in print, making them highly accessible to libraries, undergraduate students, and independent scholars. The Age of Enlightenment profoundly enriched religious and philosophical understanding and continues to influence present-day thinking. Works collected here include masterpieces by David Hume, Immanuel Kant, and Jean-Jacques Rousseau, as well as religious sermons and moral debates on the issues of the day, such as the slave trade. The Age of Reason saw conflict between Protestantism and Catholicism transformed into one between faith and logic -- a debate that continues in the twenty-first century.++++The below data was compiled from various identification fields in the bibliographic record of this title. Managerial and Organisational Integration discusses a wide range of issues considered pertinent to the more effective use of technology. A closer involvement between management and workforce can reduce tensions, improve the flow of information (both upward and downward), overcome bottlenecks in existing systems, and bring the capability of many minds to bear upon a problem or challenge. Chapters 1 and 2 introduce the concept of "internal and external integration" and present ideas for effecting a wider amalgamation. Chapters 3 through 6 focus on the way new technologies can encourage fuller integration. Chapters 7 and 8 focus on the results of a national survey and examine the anatomy and intention of case studies. Chapter 9 offers the author's conclusion and forecast for the challenge ahead in this field. The rapid advances in new technology and the recognition of human resources as an important issue for all managers, training professionals and sociologists, will ensure a wide range of readership interest in this book.

The Heart of Healing is a comprehensive exploration of the essence of healing in human relationships--whether between a shaman and tribesmember, between clergy and parishoner, or a therapist and client--that pushes beyond traditional and limiting theoretical models toward a deeper, broader understanding of how to harness, enhance, and apply this powerful phenonmenon to achieve its fullest potential in diverse clinical settings. Drawing on cross-cultural and interdisciplinary empirical research and numerous revealing case studies from their own therapy practices, the authors present a variety of innovative models for understanding and fostering relationships with clients that engender constructive change--and that can be used regardless of theoretical orientation, cultural background, or clinical setting. Pulling together the essential threads that weave the intricate fabric of the client-therapist relationship, they examine through first-hand accounts how the personal relationships, characteristics, and cultural biases of both the client and therapist affect their interactions during the therapy process, as well as influence relationships in their personal lives. They describe the conceptual building blocks of a healing encounter--including authentic engagement, projected images, and interactional patterns--and show how each of these can promote or impede a healthy and effective relationship.

Automation and Technological Change by John Thomas Dunlop is a comprehensive study of the impact of automation on the economy and society. The book explores the technological advancements that have led to automation and the resulting changes in the labor market, employment opportunities, and the nature of work. It also examines the social and economic consequences of automation, including the displacement of workers, the polarization of the labor market, and the widening income gap.The author argues that automation is not a new phenomenon but rather a continuation of the long-term trend of technological change that has been transforming the economy since the Industrial Revolution. He suggests that while automation has the potential to increase productivity and efficiency, it also poses significant challenges for workers, businesses, and policymakers. The book provides a historical perspective on automation and technological change, tracing its roots back to the early days of the Industrial Revolution and examining its evolution through the 20th century. It also analyzes the current state of automation and its impact on various sectors of the economy, including manufacturing, services, and healthcare.Overall, Automation and Technological Change offers a comprehensive and insightful analysis of the complex relationship between automation and the economy. It is a must-read for anyone interested in understanding the challenges and opportunities posed by technological change in the 21st century. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Agriculture and forestry have often been treated as separate and distinct disciplines in colleges, universities and handbooks on farm management. However, on the ground, most farmers manage land that combines agricultural production with trees. The increased uptake of agroforestry in the UK can benefit productivity, soils, climate change mitigation, water management, biodiversity and landscape, as well as animal welfare. This handbook introduces the theory of agroforestry and looks at practical management and design considerations. The authors are leading researchers and practitioners with decades of experience in agroforestry from the UK and around the world. This book will help you to assess the potential for agroforestry for your farm or client and understand the possible benefits to the wider environment, for instance by sequestering carbon and reducing flood risk. This second edition has a new Farm Woodland chapter, additional detail on funding strategies for agroforestry and an increased focus on climate resilience. We hope this handbook will give farmers and advisors the confidence and inspiration to start planting and successfully manage their woody on-farm assets for a profitable and resilient future.

Many scholars believe that the Gospel of Thomas, the famous collection of Jesus' sayings found in Nag Hammadi in 1945, makes all the difference for our understanding of the origins of Christianity. The gospel has been studied closely for the new light it throws on pre-canonical traditions and for the different world of wisdom it seems to represent. Without denying the value of such approaches, the present book takes a different approach. It does not look backward to the earlier sources of the gospel nor to the historical Jesus, but seeks to locate Thomas on the map of early Christian literature and history by comparing the gospel to other related writings and traditions. These include the writings ascribed to the mysterious apostle, Judas Thomas, other documents from Nag Hammadi, Paul and Stoic teachers, and the Gospel of Matthew. No single interpretative key for the understanding of the gospel is proposed. Rather, the book opens up several new readings and historical explanations which can usefully be explored. Uro also argues that the conventional methods scholars have been using in their studies are in need of rethinking and refinement. Among many conclusions is the author's belief that Thomas is an early second-century work written by people who, like many other first- and second-century Christians, understood Jesus' message in terms of the Hellenistic belief in the divine origin of the self.
