”Olin aina tiennyt, missä olivat ne rajat, joita naisen ei sopinut ylittää.” Thua Aallon tositapahtumiin pohjautuva Augustan tehtävä aloittaa historiallisen romaanisarjan, joka seuraa rohkean ihmisen edistyksellistä elämää aikana, jolloin naisen rooli oli ennalta määrätty. Turku vuonna 1840. Isän kuolema mullistaa koko Heurlinin perheen elämän. Erityisesti Augustalle menetys on musertava, sillä isä oli ainoa, joka tuntui ymmärtävän omapäistä tytärtään. Augustasta tuntuu, että hän ei mahdu äitinsä odotuksiin, koska viihtyy paremmin metsän ja kotielämän hiljaisuudessa kuin seurapiirien pyörteissä. Augustan maailma alkaa kirkastua, kun hän alkaa salaa lukea veljensä tuomia kirjoja. Ne sytyttävät kuplivan tiedonjanon sekä toisenlaisen tulevaisuuden kaipuun. Augusta ei halua tyytyä siihen, että muut määräävät hänen elämänsä suunnan, vaan hän haluaa olla hyödyksi ja muuttaa maailmaa. Mutta sitten Augusta tapaa tansseissa salaperäisen miehen, ja seuraelämälläkin tuntuu olevan jotain kiinnostavaa tarjottavanaan. Voiko nainen rakastaa ja silti kulkea kohti unelmiaan? Augustan tehtävä on pakahduttava tarina Suomen ensimmäisen edistyksellisen tyttökoulun perustajan Augusta Heurlinin (1826–1888) nuoruusvuosista. Thua Aalto rakastaa suomen kieltä ja historiaa ja työskentelee muun muassa Turku-oppaana. Aallon syvälliseen taustatyöhön pohjautuva esikoisromaani Augustan tehtävä aloittaa Heurlinin koulu -sarjan, joka kertoo Suomen ensimmäisen yliopistoon johtavaa opetusta antaneen tyttökoulun historiasta.

Drafted in October 1968, John A. Nesser left behind his wife and young son to fight in the controversial Vietnam War. Like many in his generation, he was deeply at odds with himself over the U.S. involvement in Vietnam, instilled with a strong sense of duty to his country but uncertain about its mission and his role in it. Nesser was deployed to the Ashau Valley, site of some of the war's heaviest fighting, and served eight months as an infantry rifleman before transferring to become a door gunner for a Chinook helicopter. In this stirring memoir, he recalls in detail the exhausting missions in the mountainous jungle, the terror of walking into an ambush, the dull-edged anxiety that filled quiet days, and the steady fear of being shot out of the sky. The accounts are richly illustrated with Nesser's own photographs of the military firebases and aircraft, the landscapes, and the people he encountered.

With the continuous increase in ship size combined with the generally slower increase in the sizes of waterways, the need for the prediction of ship maneuvering in shallow waterways continues to attract attention from the international scientific community. Ship behavior in shallow water is relevant in seabed effects that result in changing the hydrodynamic forces acting on a ship. In this study, the maneuvering characteristics of a container ship with four degrees of freedom in shallow water are analyzed. The Reynolds-Averaged Navier Stokes approach in Ansys Fluent code is used to produce the maneuvering coefficients through the simulations of forward running, static drift, static heel, circular motion, the combined motions, and the pure roll motion of the KRISO container ship. The maneuvering characteristics of the ship are estimated for evaluating the ship behav-iors in shallow-water conditions.

Da die Gr e der Schiffe st ndig zunimmt und die Gr e der Wasserstra en im Allgemeinen langsamer zunimmt, gewinnt die Vorhersage des Schiffsman vrierens in flachen Gew ssern in der internationalen wissenschaftlichen Gemeinschaft immer mehr an Bedeutung. Das Schiffsverhalten in flachen Gew ssern ist relevant f r die Auswirkungen des Meeresbodens, die zu einer Ver nderung der auf ein Schiff wirkenden hydrodynamischen Kr fte f hren. In dieser Studie werden die Man vriereigenschaften eines Containerschiffs mit vier Freiheitsgraden in flachen Gew ssern analysiert. Der Reynolds-Averaged Navier Stokes Ansatz im Ansys Fluent Code wird verwendet, um die Man vrierkoeffizienten durch die Simulationen von Vorw rtsfahrt, statischer Drift, statischer Kr ngung, Kreisbewegung, der kombinierten Bewegungen und der reinen Rollbewegung des KRISO Containerschiffs zu erzeugen. Die Man vriereigenschaften des Schiffes werden gesch tzt, um das Verhalten des Schiffes in flachen Gew ssern zu bewerten.

Il comportamento della nave in acque poco profonde rilevante per gli effetti del fondale marino che modificano le forze idrodinamiche che agiscono sulla nave. In questo studio vengono analizzate le caratteristiche di manovra di una nave container con quattro gradi di libert in acque poco profonde. L'approccio Reynolds-Averaged Navier Stokes nel codice Ansys Fluent viene utilizzato per produrre i coefficienti di manovra attraverso le simulazioni di marcia avanti, deriva statica, sbandamento statico, moto circolare, moti combinati e moto di rollio puro della nave container KRISO. Le caratteristiche di manovra della nave sono stimate per valutare il comportamento della nave in condizioni di acque poco profonde.

A abordagem de Reynolds-Averaged Navier Stokes no c digo Ansys Fluent utilizada para produzir os coeficientes de manobra atrav s das simula es de marcha para a frente, deriva est tica, adornamento est tico, movimento circular, movimentos combinados e movimento de rolamento puro do navio porta-contentores KRISO. As carater sticas de manobra do navio s o estimadas para avaliar o comportamento do navio em condi es de guas pouco profundas.

Cette tude analyse les caract ristiques de manoeuvre d'un porte-conteneurs quatre degr s de libert en eaux peu profondes. L'approche Navier Stokes moyenn e par Reynolds dans le code Ansys Fluent est utilis e pour produire les coefficients de manoeuvre travers les simulations de marche avant, de d rive statique, de g te statique, de mouvement circulaire, de mouvements combin s et de mouvement de roulis pur du porte-conteneurs KRISO. Les caract ristiques de manoeuvre du navire sont estim es pour valuer le comportement du navire en eaux peu profondes.
