CIA officer, Logan Alexander, faces his most dangerous foe in The Last Caliph, ISIS. Teaming up with CIA's Counterterrorism Center, Special Operations, and law enforcement, Logan mounts a daring operation against ISIS as they recruit jihadists to commit terrorist acts in the U.S. There is fast-paced action in the U.S., Europe and the Middle East.
The United States and North Korea have been in a de facto state of war for nearly seventy years.Supreme Threat is set in the first few months of 2021. The world has been grappling with COVID-19 for a year during an uncertain period when an outgoing U.S. president courted the North Koreans while the incoming president admonished them. For years North Korea has dispatched illegal agents to the United States via third countries where they have been busy establishing fifth columns capable of inflicting damage from close quarters, should the need arise. While North Korea's leaders taunt the U.S. with intercontinental missiles capable of reaching U.S. shores, the North Korean Intelligence Service is putting saboteurs into U.S. communities where they establish themselves in unassuming positions in the private sector, academia and even government, awaiting the day they are called to action. Maybe they'll be called upon to disrupt a critical supply chain, sabotage a critical piece of infrastructure such as the water supply, the national electric grid, or food supply. The North Korean Intelligence Service (NKIS) has long targeted America's National Labs and through perseverance and a little bit of luck, they have succeeded in penetrating Los Alamos National Laboratory. Jason Lee who first met Kim Jong-Un in Pyongyang shortly after graduating from high school, goes on to earn a P.h.D in physics from the University of Toronto in Canada. Jason's father, Roe Min-Wu, defected to North Korea from the South, before Jason was even born. In the interim he has been working for the NKIS and has been living under cover in Pyongyang as a trade official. Now Roe is about to be assigned to Mexico City to open up a new trade office at the North Korean embassy. During a diplomatic mission to Mexico City he makes a side trip undercover to New Mexico in an effort to convince Jason to enter into a clandestine relationship with the North Korean Intelligence Service. Jason, who hasn't seen his father in nearly a decade, doesn't share his parent's fervor for North Korea and its leadership, but ever chary of falling into disfavor with the man he never knew while growing up, he allows himself to be drawn into a murky world of intrigue and international espionage. This is not a role he ever seriously envisioned, and he feels poorly equipped to deal with increasing pressure from his father's superiors in Bureau 35, who view him as their secret weapon in their war against the United States. Our hero, Logan Alexander is fresh off of an assignment to the Middle East, where he successfully penetrated ISIS. CIA's Director of Operations has hand-picked one of his star recruiters for an assignment to Los Alamos, where he will bring much-needed counterintelligence and operational expertise to bear against foreign security threats against the U.S. Logan will need everything he has to counter North Korea's plot. Failure isn't an option. With action in Asia, Mexico, and the U.S. this action-packed nail biter will have you sitting on the edge of your seat until the very last page.

In the Margins
Shannon T L Kearns; Paula Stone Williams
WILLIAM B EERDMANS PUBLISHING CO

Moving the conversation beyond transgender inclusion to demonstrate the unique and vital theological insights transgender Christians can provide the church. Father Shannon Kearns is familiar with liminal spaces. He's lived in them his whole life. And while his experience as a transgender man has often made it difficult for him to fit in--especially in the context of Christianity--it has also shaped his perspective in important ways on complicated, gender-transgressing aspects of theology and Scripture. In the Margins weaves stories from Shannon's life into reflections on well-known biblical narratives--such as Jacob wrestling with the divine, Rahab and the Israelite spies, Ezekiel and the dry bones, and the transfiguration of Jesus. In each chapter, Shannon shows how stories have helped him make sense of his own identity, and how those same stories can unlock the transformative power of faith for those willing to listen with an open mind and stand alongside him in the in-between.

TL;DR's quick, concise chapters will help you identify your audience, create an outline, get a handle on grammar and sentence structure, correctly quote a source, and write a strong conclusion. If you want to know what and how professors expect you to write – and why – this is the book for you.TL;DR (too long; didn't read): This book will show you how to write better papers, and it's short, so you should read it!
For the better part of a decade, Anita Dalton's Odd Things Considered website has served as a unique outpost where sundry odd notions and odd creations-but mostly stacks upon stacks of odd books-are not merely considered, but treated with a kind of earnest analytical attention that's rarely encountered in contemporary cultural discourse. This massive anthology collects the most memorable and provocative examples of Dalton's conversationally-intoned counter-criticism, with insightful discussions of overlooked literature, anthropodermic bibliopegy, serial killer memoirs, outsider manifestos, and conspiracy theories (among many other outr subjects) converging to illuminate a vast and volatile pyscho-literary topography that has been ignored or deplored (but seldom explored) by our reigning arbiters of taste and culture. When you're ready to put down that Jonathan Franzen doorstop, consider picking up a copy of Anita Dalton's TL;DR - The Best of Odd Things Considered. You'll see what you've been missing.
You know you need to learn more about personal finance in order to make financial decisions, but you just find it too overwhelming, too intimidating, and too time consuming. This book was written for you, giving you the basics in less than an hour, and then directing you to further resources (fischlearning.com/tldr) if you'd like to learn more. It's about 35 pages and should take less than an hour to read, so instead of TL;DR (Too Long; Didn't Read) it will hopefully be JR;DR;KM (Just Right, Did Read, Know More). This book isn't about "getting rich quickly" (not that's there anything wrong with that), but it's about gaining knowledge and building your capacity in order to live a good life. What's a "good life"? I don't know, everyone's definition is different. What's important is that you take the time to define what a good life is for you, and then align your financial decisions with that. The goal of this book is to help you think about your finances in such a way that you have the independence to lead the life you want to live; to give you as much control as possible over your financial situation so that your finances don't prevent you from living the life you want.I say "book" because that's what Amazon calls it, but it's more like a really long blog post. I wrote it because finances and financial decisions are such a huge part of everyone's life that they should take the time to thoroughly educate themselves. Since many folks won't do that, this book is an attempt to quickly give them the basics and hopefully encourage them - and give them the confidence - to learn more.I am not a financial planner. I have taught students mathematics and computer science for over thirty years, but have no formal training in personal finance or investing, and no certifications. I am simply a lifelong learner, constantly curious, and have been interested in personal finance since working in a credit union during high school and college, and continued to be curious and learn more about finance during my career as a public school teacher. Over my years as a teacher, I discovered that not only did my students not know much about personal finance, but neither did my family, friends and colleagues (I often served as a resource for those folks).Partially as a result of that experience, I see the necessity for a book such as this, as I wanted to do my part to try to help others become financially literate. While it would be nice to make a little bit of money from this, that's not really my expectation or my goal. This is a passion project for me. I hope folks find it helpful. If you do read it, it would be helpful if you could leave a review on Amazon and/or email me at [email protected] a "testimonial" for the accompanying website. I would also love constructive feedback at bit.ly/tldrfeedback. So, about 35 pages. About an hour. Ready to get started? Future you will thank you.
