South Haven North is an imaginatively recounted adult narrative involving Dagny, Payden and Samantha. Dagny, a gorgeous prepossessing ingenue, is an amalgam of competing emotion, a detonation waiting to happen. Her mother died in childbirth, leaving her to be raised by Doby, her devoted father. She's a bookkeeper by day for US Steel and evenings she performs privately as an exotic dancer at a gentleman's club near the airport in Gary. Her father has been employed as a production assistant in the smelting area of the mill for over twenty years and Dagny is concerned that US Steel is killing her father because the enormous company has known for years that workplace asbestos is slowly poisoning the employees. As a result she is bewildered by her antipathy toward men and has no conscience about cooking the firms books. Along with after hour side gigs at the club, Dagny's embezzlement has netted her such cash reserves that secret accounts had to be established. Not wanting to leave a trace, Dagny changes her identity, leaves Indiana one step ahead of the law in her new Bentley, and relocates to South Haven Michigan, where she purchases a pristine lake shore property with a casita. In the idyllic laid back resort town, a mysterious and beguiling woman who owns a restaurant bar hires Dagny because of her stunning good looks, but she has ulterior motives. Dagny, not needing the money, takes the position for the possibility of meeting people. Samantha, the owner, immediately falls head over heels in love with Dagny, who over time reciprocates, but when Payden, a local gentleman farmer, mostly Alpaca and Llamas, shows interest in Dagny, an explosive triangle plays out.Dagny and Payden, on one of their frequent weekend camping excursions, tangle with three crude rednecks who have sketchy ties to Payden's past. And while Dagny cannot get Samantha's persistent ministrations off her mind, the altercation in the northern Michigan Tavern where they stopped to watch a ball game leads to insults and results in a chase across two counties close to Lake Michigan ending at Payden and Dagny's campsite. The insults and altercation become violent and end in a triple murder but not before the assistance from an armed to the teeth dark shadow figure with motives of her own crashes the party. Dagny learns that fear and eroticism are conjoined emotions cut from the same cloth. Dagny and Payden flee for their lives, board a cross-lake ferry and return to Michigan by driving through Wisconsin, Illinois and parts of Indiana.A lifetime of emotional scarring is sublimated when Dagny and Payden marry and find solace in raising their combined families.

The seventeenth-century Valencian artist Jusepe de Ribera spent most of his career in Spanish Viceregal Naples, where he was known as “Lo Spagnoletto,” or “the Little Spaniard.” Working under the patronage of Spanish viceroys, Ribera held a special position bridging two worlds. In Ribera’s Repetitions, art historian Todd P. Olson sheds new light on the complexity of Ribera’s artwork and artistic methods and their connections to the Spanish imperial project.Drawing from a diverse range of sources, including poetry, literature, natural history, philosophy, and political history, Olson presents Ribera’s work in a broad context. He examines how Ribera’s techniques, including rotation, material decay (through etching), and repetition, influenced the artist’s drawings and paintings. Many of Ribera’s works featured scenes of physical suffering—from Saint Jerome’s corroded skin and the flayed bodies of Saint Bartholomew and Marsyas to the ragged beggar-philosophers and the eviscerated Tityus. But far from being the result of an individual sadistic predilection, Olson argues, Ribera’s art was inflected by the legacies of the Reconquest of Spain and Neapolitan coloniality. Ribera’s material processes and themes were not hermetically sealed in the studio; rather, they were engaged in the global Spanish Empire.Pathbreaking and deeply interdisciplinary, this copiously illustrated book offers art history students and scholars a means to see Ribera’s art anew.

Five words (located on p.116) complete the missing letters (represented by the underscore symbol) needed in the five uncompleted words printed on p.30. The completed words are printed on p.300. The other (numbered) pages are intentionally left blank.
In the title, the word 'uncompleted' suggest that five words were purposely uncompleted, rather than inherently incomplete. When we use the word 'incomplete', we're focusing on the condition something is in at that moment and stating that it's missing something. When we use 'uncompleted, ' we're focusing more on the fact that work still needs to be done on or to something in order to finish it. We're not thinking so much about the fact that something is missing (as we are with incomplete) but on the fact that this is still a work in progress. Incomplete means something that needs a part that has been taken away. For example a house that needs renovation is incomplete not uncompleted because it was first complete but due to time or weather it lost something or its part that needs to be put to make it complete again. The opposite of incomplete is complete; i.e, all parts are present

Individual sheets of paper accurately represent a lot of things, but is the world one of them? Even a math word-problem can become a powerful testimonial to the presence of the world if the problem begins and ends with an accurate representation of itself. Perhaps the 'quotidian viewpoint' doesn't measurably move the needle on our engagement in interesting stories. They're 'real world' so we are disarmed of their usual question, "When will I ever use this?" There is a second axis we focus on less. That axis looks at work. It looks at what we do as humanity. That work can be real or fake also. The fake work is narrowly focused on precise, abstract, formal calculation. It's necessary but it interests us less. It interests the world less also. Real work - interesting work, the sort of work we might like to do later in life - involves problem formulation and question development.
