Griesbachs wird mit dieser Untersuchung erstmals dargestellt und sein Beitrag fur die medizinische Wissenschaft gewurdigt. In einem einleitenden Abschnitt wird zunachst ein Ruckblick uber die Entwicklung der Endokrinologie bis 1940 gegeben, wodurch die Forschung Griesbachs in den historischen Rahmen eingeordnet werden kann. Im ersten Hauptteil liegt die Gewichtung auf der Darstellung seines Lebens als deutsch-judischer Arzt wahrend des Dritten Reiches und wahrend der Emigration in ein Land des Commonwealth. Der zweite Hauptteil setzt sich mit seiner Forschung auseinander: der Identifizierung verschiedener glykolytischer Intermediarprodukte, der Entwicklung der -Kongorotmethode- und der bedeutendsten wissenschaftlichen Leistung Griesbachs, der Identifizierung aller Zellen des Hypophysenvorderlappens im Hinblick auf ihre Hormonzugehorigkeit."
