An illustrated, lay flat reference guide to hatha yoga as it was originally intended: as a way to uplift consciousness and aid spiritual development. Kriyananda's approach follows the tradition of the great Indian master Paramhansa Yogananda, bringing hatha yoga back to its central focus as an integral part of the meditative science of Raja Yoga. Inspiring affirmations and clearly written instructions demonstrate how to attune oneself to the consciousness of the poses, so that each one becomes a doorway to greater emotional well-being, inner clarity, and radiant health.

Population Issues in Social Choice Theory, Welfare Economics, and Ethics

This book presents an exploration of the idea of the common or social good, extended so that alternatives with different populations can be ranked. The approach is, in the main, welfarist, basing rankings on the well-being, broadly conceived, of those who are alive (or ever lived). The axiomatic method is employed, and topics investigated include: the measurement of individual well-being, social attitudes toward inequality of well-being, the main classes of population principles, principles that provide incomplete rankings, principles that rank uncertain alternatives, best choices from feasible sets, and applications. The chapters are divided, with mathematical arguments confined to the second part. The first part is intended to make the arguments accessible to a more general readership. Although the book can be read as a defense of the critical-level generalized-utilitarian class of principles, comprehensive examinations of other classes are included.

This volume is based on papers presented at the 2nd International Conference on Computing Methods in Optimization Problems held in San Remo, Italy, September 9-13, 1968. The Conference was sponsored by the Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematicians (SIAM), with the cooperation of the University of California and the Univer- sity of California and the University of Southern Califor- nia. The Conference focussed on recent advances in com- putational methods for optimization problems in diverse areas including: Computational Aspects of Optimal Control and Trajec- tory Problems; Computational Techniques in Mathematical Programming; Computational Techniques in Optimization Problems in Economics, Metero1ogy, Biomedicine and Related Areas; Identification and Inverse Problems; Computational Aspects of Decoding and Information Retrieval Problems; Pattern Recognition Problems. The Organizing Committee of the Conference consisted of: A. V. Balakrishnan (U. S. A. ) - Chairman L. W. Neustadt (U. S. A. ) - Co-Chairman L. A. Zadeh (U. S. A. ) - Co-Chairman G. Debreu (U. S. "Truth and Proof for the Christian Worldview" a Comprehensive Summary of Christian Apologetics
"Why is there something rather than nothing?" That's the quintessential, philosophical question in mankind's search not only for the existence of the universe, but also for the existence, meaning, and purpose of life. That question forms the essence for this informative and enlightening book in which author Dr. Kelly J. Walters reveals both the answer (Jesus Christ) and the abundant evidential proof. Everyone longs to know the answers to universally profound questions like "Is God real?" or "What is the true creation story of the universe and of humankind?" or "Is there an afterlife?" These questions are vast, extreme, and complex. While there are many theories, the ultimate empirical and factual answers are impossible to definitively prove for both theist and naturalistic scientism alike. Both sides require faith. In Truth and Proof for the Christian Worldview, Dr. Walters offers evidence and rational proof defending the one position that provides the best logical, experiential, and noncontradictory answer for all the above questions: Christianity. Atheist turned Christian, Dr. Walters delves into this convincing evidence, providing an organized and scholarly summary and presentation of the detailed research available for Christian apologetics. He teaches on a plethora of topics, including comparative religion worldviews, key logical arguments and formal proofs for God, the origins of the universe and life, evolution and creationism theories, who is Jesus Christ, what is true Christianity, and more. The evidence related to these theological and scientific topics rationally serve to defend, clarify, and prove the truth for the reality of the one true God of the Bible as creator of the universe and life.
