Sometimes the ones who save us are the ones we need to fear the most.In a world where dark faeries have stepped in to save the planet from humanity's mistakes, seventeen-year-old December Thorne is nothing but a shadow. Shunned by her peers, bullied at school, and paid a little too much attention by her sleazy foster father, she lives in constant fear and perpetual solitude.Until the day everything changed.Offered a scholarship to the prestigious Oberon Academy, December finds herself living in a whole new world. Boundless food, clean clothes, a safe place to sleep, and the potential for true friendship make her new life seem almost too good to be true-but the school has a secret. The truth is, Oberon Academy isn't just a prep school for society's elite. It's a training ground for a secret race of magical beings no one knows exists. And they're preparing for war.Filled with fear and denial, December has a choice to make. She can either return to her pathetic life with her dangerous foster parents, try to survive on her own, or make Oberon Academy her home and discover the truth about who, and what she really is. And that truth could save the world.

Needing blood to survive. Advanced hearing capabilities. The ability to control people with their minds...My name is Lizzie Williams, and I have spent the last several months being molded into a soldier for the Divine Church of Purity- a group of intolerant, bigoted people desperate to keep our species pure and untainted by Homo Altiorems, or Alts. They were created by man's desire to play God, therefore unholy and a blight on humanity.I can't believe I ever bought into that load of crap. Now, I'm doing whatever I can to right the wrongs I've committed. My journey to redemption takes me to Connecticut, where I meet Silas and Slade Madsen. Brothers. Twins. Insanely hot and one hundred percent Alt. But that doesn't worry me. Even if they don't trust me, they can't use their Alt powers against me, because I'm different. The Purist church made sure of that, giving me an injection that made me immune.I'm Lizzie Williams, and I'm unpersuadable. The Unpersuadable Series is a spin-off of the Blood Persuasion Series. Needing blood to survive. Advanced hearing capabilities. The ability to control people with their minds... I'm Savanna James. Loner, outsider, whatever you want to call it, I have no friends, and that's okay with me. Or at least, it was. Everything changed the day I met the Patton brothers. I knew what they were. Homo Altiorems, or Alts, the children born to participants in the XRT-90 trials. Three dark-haired, silver-eyed, smokin' hot Alts, at my school, in my cafeteria, staring right at me. They insisted on getting to know me, because something about me was different. Special. I went from having zero friends to having three boys devoted to me in every way. And they were right. I was different. There's one thing I can do that no one else can, and it changed my life. It changed theirs, too. This is a young adult reverse harem paranormal romance suitable for teens and adults, ages 15+

Sacrificing yourself for those you love is sometimes the only decision you can make. After slipping away from Dr. Patton and his cult of crazies, the boys and I escaped to their hometown in Connecticut to hide out with the family that practically raised them. Things seemed to settle down for a while, but it was all an illusion. Dr. Patton was determined to see his genocidal dreams become a reality. He needed me to gain access to and influence certain executives in the highest level of the government, and he'd get my cooperation by any means necessary. Using the people I loved as leverage, he gave me no choice. I had to sacrifice my beliefs, my values, and my freedom in order to save them. No cost was too great. Even if it meant using my power against those most important to me. Recommended for ages 16+ for mature content.

This is a book of easily-staged. ready-to-use rituals to celebrate the eight Wiccan holidays. If you are new to ritual or simply need some help with ritual, this is the perfect book for you. These are a selection of the rituals I have written and led over the past 20 years. I have included the rituals that conveyed their central themes clearly and were easy to do in a practical, logistic sense. They are intended for a small group, but most can scale up for a larger group and most could be done by a solitary witch.
Memories of Madagascar and Slavery in the Black Atlantic

Memories of Madagascar and Slavery in the Black Atlantic

Wendy Wilson-Fall

Ohio University Press

From the seventeenth century into the nineteenth, thousands of Madagascar's people were brought to American ports as slaves. In Memories of Madagascar and Slavery in the Black Atlantic, Wendy Wilson-Fall shows that the descendants of these Malagasy slaves in the United States maintained an ethnic identity in ways that those from the areas more commonly feeding the Atlantic slave trade did not. Generations later, hundreds, if not thousands, of African Americans maintain strong identities as Malagasy descendants, yet the histories of Malagasy slaves, sailors, and their descendants have been little explored. Wilson-Fall examines how and why the stories that underlie this identity have been handed down through families—and what this says about broader issues of ethnicity and meaning-making for those whose family origins, if documented at all, have been willfully obscured by history. By analyzing contemporary oral histories as well as historical records and examining the conflicts between the two, Wilson-Fall carefully probes the tensions between the official and the personal, the written and the lived. She suggests that historically, the black community has been a melting pot to which generations of immigrants—enslaved and free—have been socially assigned, often in spite of their wish to retain far more complex identities. Innovative in its methodology and poetic in its articulation, this book bridges history and ethnography to take studies of diaspora, ethnicity, and identity into new territory.
