Community - God's way to Sanity. Sanity. .. what sanity? We all know that we live in an insane world, whether we like to admit it not: *daily sitting in a traffic jam to go to work so you can afford the car to sit in the traffic jam*people being barred from certain jobs for life because they made one mistake in their youth*sick folks not getting needed medicine due to its outrageous cost kept artificially high so pharmaceutical shareholders can get rich off the backs of the ill*12% of all children living in poverty in one of the richest nations on earth*people so isolated they do not know their closest neighbors*addicts not being treated as patients but as criminals*a justice system so complicated that good folks inadvertently break some obscure law all the time*being controlled and manipulated by an abstract item called "money"*pay to have your children spend most of their time with strangers so you can go to work in order to pay for stuff to give them as consolation that you do not have time for them*farmers being forced to let their crops rot on the fields because they cannot make a profit from them due to some trade war while in other countries people starve*traditions, pride and prejudice making people treat others not as equals or even hating themAnd the list goes on. .. .Just honestly look around you, and you will find examples of insanity everywhere. Most of us have simply accepted all of it, as if there is no way out of it. Perhaps we blame God for allowing this mess to happen, or we shrug our shoulders and explain it as the result of sin, therefore inescapable, our fate, our destiny. But our loving Father-God has created a way of living in this world apart from much of the insanity and purposelessness we encounter at every turn. It is the true Body of Christ, the community of the people of God, small like a mustard seed yet with the potential to turn the world upside down. No worries, it has little to do with what you know as "the church", nor does it even faintly look like that, in fact, it has most likely no resemblance to anything you have ever seen. Let me introduce you to it, step by step. You might be amazed at what you will learn. .
