Kiff pursued the formal qualities of painting – shape, line, texture, transparency and colour. His practice was driven by an exploration of the material and emotional properties of colour, viewing colour as image, and image as colour. He melded figuration and abstraction, allowing colour and meaning to enhance one another. <br /> <br /> Kiff made prints throughout his career and his range of media expanded to include almost every printmaking technique. He collaborated with master printmakers in the UK, Europe and America, including Dorothea Wight, Erik Holgersson and Garner Tullis. Drawing on his extensive materials archive, diaries and letters, together with memories from his collaborators in the medium, this important thread of his work is now presented comprehensively in this expansive volume.
