Obwohl die Kreditaufnahme des Staates in der Bundesrepublik Deutsch- land fast ausschliesslich im oder uber das Geschaftsbankensystem erfolgt, liegt bisher keine umfassendere Analyse der damit verbundenen Geschaftsbeziehungen zwischen den Gebietskorperschaften und den Kreditinstituten vor. Nach einem empirischen Uberblick uber die Entwicklung der Verschul- dungsformen des Staates und das Engagement einzelner Bankengruppen in diesem Geschaftsbereich, werden im zweiten Kapitel der Arbeit die Besonderheiten der direkten Bankkreditvergabe an die Gebiets- korperschaften dargestellt und auf ihre Konsequenzen fur die Er- trags- und Rentabilitatsentwicklung der Geschaftsbanken untersucht.
