This report analyses strategic challenges in generating forces to execute the Australian Army's current and emergent roles and missions, as they have been agreed upon with Government. Comparing the structures and performances of four globally significant armed forces and making use of the Australian Government's Defence Risk Management Framework, the report proposes nine solution themes for improving decisionmaking at policy and strategic levels.

The U.S. Navy's ship inventory and the shipbuilding and repair industrial base that supports these ships have experienced significant changes. In the next 30 years, additional significant changes to the fleet composition and the maintenance requirements of the fleet are likely. This report assesses possible supply and demand capabilities in the ship maintenance workload for the Navy and notes long-term challenges facing mitigation efforts.

The Department of State has developed several organizational elements and cultural attributes relevant for a lessons-learned program, and these provide a starting point from which the department can mature its enterprisewide capabilities. To that end, this report explores best practices across fields of organizational theory and within both public and private organizations.
