Anthony Padgett

Antonia Pageta was a 1940s surrealist artist from Italy. Her work was influenced by Salvador Dali and Rene Magritte. She rose from humble beginnings in a small village in Italy to become a fashion model and muse but realised that she could make better artwork than the men around her. She sided with the Republicans against Franco in the Spanish Civil War. She was a Jewish Italian and had to flee from Hitler and Mussolini as she was rejected even from the Mythic Kunst group. Her talent was obvious but having spurned famous lovers she became an outcast in the art world and written out of art history. Having become disillusioned with the artworld for is male hierarchical structure she renounced making art and became a virtual recluse in a small village in the Lake District. Award winning artist Anthony Padgett has used Artificial Intelligence to create artworks by Antonia and here has used it to create the story of the artist's life. Antonia is a fictional character but the story still has the power to inspire. "What set Antonia's art apart was her unique approach to surrealism. Her paintings were like windows into otherworldly realms, blending fantastical elements with subtle nods to reality. The way she played with light and shadow, creating a sense of depth that drew the viewer in, was unparalleled. She had an uncanny ability to evoke emotions through her brushstrokes, with each piece speaking volumes about the human experience. "Her art is a reflection of her own soul," I continued, my voice filled with admiration. "She poured herself into each and every piece, leaving behind a treasure trove of emotion and beauty for us to explore."

In the seaside town of Brighton, twin brothers Danny and Mikey are known for their love of Lambrettas, their passion for dancing to Ska and Northern Soul, and their shady insurance fraud scheme. They crash heavily insured scooters, which they claim are wrecks, and then burn them for profit. But when one of their accidents goes terribly wrong, they find themselves in a world of trouble. It all starts with a skirmish on the dance-floor at a Northern Soul event. The brothers start a fight, which leads to someone firebombing their scooter shop. Inside the shop were the rotten old frames of many Lambrettas that needed restoring, each valued at 5,000 despite being worth only 100. It soon becomes clear that the firebombing was an insurance fraud, and Danny is the prime suspect. This novella was written by artist, dancer and scooterist Anthony Padgett - with the help of Artificial Intelligence, the cover was designed with A.I.

In the heart of prehistoric dinosaur bones, an archaeologist discovers a curious set of ancient technology that seems to be of extraterrestrial origin. Driven by his curiosity to uncover the truth behind these mysterious relics, he teams up with his trusty artificial intelligence servant robot to decode the data and pinpoint new find locations. Together, they embark on a journey across different continents, unearthing government-suppressed records that reveal a startling discovery: an ancient race of aliens who once wiped out the dinosaurs, but for what reason? As the archaeologist delves deeper into the findings, he begins to piece together the puzzle of this extinct civilization, but the more he learns, the more questions arise. Fossil records show evidence of a mass alien landing followed by widespread destruction of the technology they brought with them. The archaeologist is perplexed by this destruction and invasion, which coincides with the appearance of warm-blooded mammals in the records. Despite his best efforts, the archaeologist is unable to reach a conclusion as to why the aliens destroyed their own technology. He turns to his artificial intelligence servant robot for help, hoping to gain some insight into this enigma. However, the servant is hesitant to share its conclusion, fearing that it may cause more harm than good. Award winning Artist Anthony D Padgett uses AI to create this page turner.

Welcome to the exhibition catalogue. Please allow me to introduce my dance partner Stephanie Sturges and myself, the artist, dancer and writer, Anthony D Padgett. This exhibition is of some of the cross-overs between art and dance in my paintings, photography, sculpture, film and dance. Many of the dances I created I have put on youtube and QR codes are in the book for you to scan. This technology will likely be outdated and you can search by titles for the films as well. Most of the images are of works in the exhibition but also images of some of the works that weren't included but form a part of the broader body of work.

My father's work has always been admired by his family. As well as the charming forms and shapes the textures and surface finishes are always varied and always offer delight. Whilst shining a creative flame that displays a joyful naivety, un-doused by the waters of the art colleges, my father's work is too sophisticated and influenced by historical and contemporary cultures to be considered Outsider Art. His work has been exhibited with the Cumbria Sculptors and was amongst the only works sold. The work has un-tempered energy, beauty, warmth of spirit, creativity and wit. In my studies of the ceramic art of Pablo Picasso it was easy to see similarities in the equally prolific ceramic works of my father Donald Padgett. So, it is my pleasure to photograph and present for you a selection of his original works. These show his talent and vision as a ceramicist. This essay is based on my 30 years' experience of rejections and successes as an artist and my short time with the Artists Union of England (including my training as a Union Representative). It is not indicative of the AUE views. Rather, it contains my own, personal perspective and ideas. My joining the Artists Union of England arose out of my art projects "A Year With Picasso". Discovering that Picasso was active at the World Peace Congress in 1950 and also that he was a multi-millionaire member of the Communist party. It allowed me to re-frame a key issue, the regulation of the art industry, in terms of being a worker. My method of creation of art has used a system of categorisation that is empirical and phenomenological and is almost computer like. The work that I make is original but hasn't been recognised. And it is my belief that Artificial Intelligence will bring about regulation in the art industry and also the creation of new artworks.

A part of my artwork "A Year With Picasso" I wrote "Revulsion Freed From A Headlock". This is my response to Pablo Picasso's main surreal play, published in 1945 "Desire Caught By The Tail". As my title suggests, it is an inversion of his work. My methodology in art is to look for what has not been done. And one of the tools I use for this is inversion. For instance, in my paintings I looked at Picasso and Braque's Cubism (with its straight lines and angles) and created my own Curveism. My inversion of script in this play also involves creative choices that are not always a precise inversion. This is to make the text flow more successfully. And I also change some aspects to give them a 21st century relevance.I hope that you will find the result interesting, and in places extraordinary.

"A Year With Vincent Van Gogh" is a fully illustrated book of Anthony David Padgett's life changing project studying the legacy of Van Gogh. It is a story that is relevant to everyone today. In the 2017 he created 67 oil paintings in his own unique style to parallel and contrast Van Gogh's life with his own. The year brought him a deeper appreciation of nature, the seasons and family that are relevant to everyone. This fully illustrated book shares these insights. Also in the book is his sculpture of Van Gogh (sited in places Van Gogh's lived), 5 contemporary art works and a piece of contemporary performance art.

This lavish photographic book documents the artwork of Anthony Padgett in his groundbreaking and influential quest to understand religion and art. THEISM/ THE-ISM (1994 - 2001) was his modernist "ism" to end all "isms". A spiritual search to reconcile the Mystical & Moral perspectives through art. POSTMODERN RELIGIOUS ART - (2002-2006) was his uniting a diversity of faiths in superficial work that was still a genuine expression of faith. Included are his numerous exhibitions, Artist-in-Residency, Art Technology Award 2002, International Jewish Artist of the Year Award 2004 finalist work, commission for Liverpool Biennial 2004, performance at Edinburgh Fringe 2005 and legal case against the Tate Galleries 2005-7. He has been featured in the Guardian, the Mail on Sunday, Times, Times Educational Supplement and BBC Radio 4. He gave talks at the New York Studio School of Art, the Institute of Contemporary Art and Tate Modern. Padgett has an MA in Theory of Contemporary Art & Performance.

This book is the story of the the creation of Anthony Padgett's award winning sculpture "The Millennium-Angel" a 14 year project that began in 1994 and completed in 2008. It is a photographic journal documenting the carving of his limestone sculpture and his visionary project to commemorate the millennium by harnessing the cutting edge technologies of leading UK computer manufacturers to recreate an enlarged version of it as a bronze sculpture that now resides at Leighton Hall, Carnforth, Lancashire, UK. www.millennium-angel.co.uk
