One common question since school has been - If you were an animal which one would you be and why ? And all my classmates or even colleagues now would say lion or tiger and being a leader or majestic etc . I think today I would say- A panda Po from Kung fu panda Those who know me personally would say - Aah because of the food And yes, that's true - like Po I too believe I am not eating upto my full potential;) . Probably also the fact that we both can't climb stairs to save our lives . But jokes apart, those who haven't watched the series - please do . It's one of my favourite spiritual movies to watch . What started as yet another cartoon for my daughter touched me and has ever since remained one of our family favourites . This book is a collection of poems, of thoughts and musings, of reflections of a mind that's overactive, wandering, spiritual and also emotional . The question of individuality in non-European, and especially South Asian societies is a controversial one. Studies in anthropology and psychology undertaken in recent years on concepts of person and self approach the problem by concentrating on ideologies; the question of practice remains largely neglected. This is the first study to examine the individual-dividual debate empirically from the - emic - perspective of decision making, observed over a two-year period among the Bakkarwal, Himalayan Muslim pastoralists. Of particular significance is the fact that the author bases her approach on the life cycle and on gender and status differences.
