This starts with Zeffron being offered a promotion. It goes through how he gets that promotion by telling the first seven stories from this persons perspective and the thoughts of such. This gives a different view of what happened. There is a surprise in the book that makes the story worth the read.

The story comes in around the same time book 9 ends. It goes from there, listing events as one immortal experiences them and her thoughts on such. It tells how she gets more promotions past where book 9 stops listing them. The story does not focus so much on the promotions as book 9 was. It is longer than book 9 but much shorter than book 8.

This book tells us some of the immortal ranks. As Zeffron got a promotion, we know they have ranks, so we should know what some of them are. It picks up from where book 8 leaves off and tells how each rank is gotten. It is much shorter than book 8, so young ones dont get discouraged by its size.
