Det var en hård sandhed at forstå som barn.Krig var en del af mit liv, både da jeg var barn, og senere da jeg blev voksen og blev officer i militæret. Men jeg oplevede også noget andet: sammenhold og store projekter, hvor vi arbejdede mod et fælles mål.Jeg voksede op i en kibbutz - en slags fællesskab, hvor vi boede, arbejdede og delte alt med hinanden. Vi arbejdede på markerne, passede dyr og gik i skole. Det var et stærkt fællesskab, hvor vi lærte, at livet ikke kun handler om én selv, men også om at gøre noget godt for andre.Vi havde en vision: mennesket og verden kan forbedres. Det var meningen med livet for os. Selvfølgelig er det vigtigt at tage vare på sig selv, men hvis du kun tænker på dig selv og aldrig bidrager til fællesskabet, ender du som en egoist, der ikke skaber noget værdifuldt.Den tankegang har fulgt mig gennem hele mit liv. Som psykolog og forfatter forsøger jeg at vise folk, at vi kan lære at blive klogere, mere åbne og mindre selvcentrerede. Hvis vi arbejder sammen og tænker på mere end os selv, kan vi skabe en bedre verden.

There are no exceptional people or nations because of moral alone. The only exceptionalism is attained by pursuing the goals of global sustainability, fairness, and farsighted and wise evolvement beyond sapiens limitations. This book tries to show how we can rid us of our cursed global Idiocracy by pursuing a long term, viable course for farsighted, wise and sustainable future development.
